Brazilian Team Advances to Upper-Bracket Final as FUT Drop to Elimination Path

paiN Gaming secured a place in the IEM Atlanta 2026 playoffs after defeating FUT Esports 2-1 in the Group A upper-bracket semi-final, continuing the Brazilian squad’s impressive run at the Counter-Strike 2 tournament.

The victory guarantees paiN a playoff berth and moves the team into the Group A upper-bracket final, where they will face BetBoom Team for a direct semi-final spot. FUT, meanwhile, fall to the lower bracket and now face a difficult road to stay alive in Atlanta.

According to HLTV, paiN opened the series strongly on Nuke, their own map pick, with captain Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt producing a crucial 1v4 clutch that shifted momentum early in the game. The Brazilians converted that momentum into an 8-4 halftime lead before comfortably closing the map 13-8. Guilherme “piriajr” Barbosa finished as the standout player with a 1.67 rating.

FUT responded on Overpass despite a difficult start. The European side lost both pistol rounds and the opening gun round but recovered thanks to strong defensive performances from Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov and Laurențiu “lauNX” Țârlea. FUT stabilized their CT side and eventually leveled the series to force a deciding map.

The decider on Dust2 delivered one of the closest matches of the tournament so far. FUT controlled the first half and entered halftime with an 8-4 advantage, but paiN mounted a comeback after switching to the CT side. João “snow” Vinicius became the turning point of the map after stopping a FUT B-site execute with four kills in Round 19.

Although FUT managed to tie the score at 11-11 late in the game, paiN held their composure in the final rounds to secure a 13-11 victory and close out the series.

paiN Continue Strong Form at IEM Atlanta 2026

The win over FUT follows paiN’s earlier victory against FaZe Clan in the opening round of Group A. The Brazilian roster defeated FaZe 2-0, winning Dust2 13-6 and Anubis 13-8 despite FaZe claiming all four pistol rounds during the series. Snow and piriajr were once again among the team’s highest-rated players.

paiN’s recent performances continue to strengthen the team’s reputation as one of the fastest-rising rosters in Counter-Strike 2. Biguzera’s leadership and the emergence of younger players like snow have become key factors behind the Brazilian team’s consistency in international events throughout 2026.

BetBoom Await paiN in Playoff Qualification Match

paiN’s next opponent will be BetBoom Team, who reached the upper-bracket final after eliminating Vitality in one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

BetBoom shocked the world No. 1 squad with a 2-1 victory powered by aggressive trading and confident T-side calling. Following the match, Timur “FL4MUS” Marev described the victory as one of the biggest moments of his career.

“It’s my first win against Vitality and my first arena playoffs,” FL4MUS said in a post-match interview with HLTV. “Everyone played fantastic individually.”

The winner between paiN and BetBoom will advance directly to the IEM Atlanta 2026 semi-finals, while the losing team will enter the quarter-finals.

FUT Face Elimination Battle

Despite the loss, FUT still remain in contention for the playoffs. The team now drops to the lower bracket, where they are set to face B8 in an elimination match.

If FUT defeat B8, they are expected to play either Vitality or FaZe for the final Group A playoff position, creating a potentially brutal lower-bracket run against some of Counter-Strike’s biggest organizations.
