NAVI Star iM Sends Warning Ahead of IEM Atlanta Playoffs: “Our Biggest Opponent Is Us”
Natus Vincere survived a difficult three-map battle against GamerLegion to secure a playoff spot at IEM Atlanta 2026, but Mihai “iM” Ivan believes the team’s biggest issue is not the opposition — it is themselves.
Speaking after the series, the Romanian rifler admitted NAVI’s inconsistency remains the squad’s primary concern despite another deep tournament run.
The match itself showcased both sides of NAVI. They opened with a dominant 13-4 win on Inferno before collapsing 1-13 on Ancient. Mirage eventually went their way in a tense 13-11 decider. According to HLTV, the victory officially locked NAVI into the playoff stage.
iM later explained that overaggression and individual mistakes allowed GamerLegion back into the series.
“I think the biggest opponent for us is us. Not Astralis, not Legacy, not even Vitality.”
The quote instantly became one of the biggest talking points of the event.
NAVI vs Vitality Still Defines the CS2 Era
Although iM downplayed external opponents, the looming rivalry with Team Vitality continues to dominate the Counter-Strike scene.
Vitality entered Atlanta as the world’s No. 1-ranked CS2 team, while NAVI arrived directly behind them. HLTV’s tournament overview highlighted both organizations as the tournament favorites.
The rivalry has become increasingly one-sided throughout 2026. HLTV noted NAVI had failed to win a single map against Vitality across eight maps played this year before Atlanta.
That statistic alone explains why many fans still consider Vitality the team to beat despite NAVI’s strong playoff form.
ropz Previously Sent Direct Message to NAVI
The tension between the two teams has been building for months.
Earlier this season, Vitality star Robin Kool openly stated that his team specifically wanted another matchup against NAVI.
“We want to play NAVI. I’m sure they think they can beat us — we’re going to show they can’t.”
The statement came before another Vitality victory in the rivalry and reinforced the growing psychological edge the French organization currently holds.
B1ad3 Believes NAVI Must “Reprogram” Their Goals
NAVI coach Andrey Gorodenskiy recently addressed the team’s mentality issues after IEM Rio.
Following NAVI’s ESL Pro League success, B1ad3 explained that the squad needed to “reprogram” its ambitions and continue pushing for titles instead of becoming satisfied with earlier achievements.
Those comments now look especially relevant after NAVI’s shaky Atlanta performances. Even in victory, the team continues to show moments of brilliance mixed with sudden collapses.
Can NAVI Finally Beat Vitality in CS2?
Despite iM’s confidence, the biggest question surrounding NAVI remains simple: can they finally overcome Vitality when it matters most?
Vitality recently eliminated GamerLegion to secure another potential rematch against NAVI, with HLTV describing the matchup as one where NAVI still had “a lot of ground to make up.”
For now, NAVI continue their IEM Atlanta playoff campaign against either Astralis or Legacy. But if the bracket plays out as expected, another showdown with Vitality could define the entire tournament.
And according to iM, the outcome may depend less on tactics or opponents — and more on whether NAVI can finally defeat their own inconsistency.
