MOUZ Return to No. 3 in HLTV Ranking After Strong ESL Pro League Run

MOUZ climb back into the top three of the HLTV world rankings after an unbeaten start at ESL Pro League Season 23, overtaking Falcons and strengthening their position among Counter-Strike’s elite teams.

MOUZ have moved up to third place in the latest HLTV world ranking, marking a one-position improvement from the previous week. The European squad now sits on 493 ranking points, surpassing Falcons, who dropped to fourth with 476.

At the top of the rankings, Vitality remain No. 1 with 1,000 points, while FURIA hold second place with 626. The updated ranking reflects recent tournament performances, including MOUZ’s impressive start at ESL Pro League Season 23.

MOUZ secure playoffs at ESL Pro League Season 23

MOUZ’s rise in the HLTV CS2 ranking came after a strong performance in the second stage of ESL Pro League Season 23, where the team advanced to the playoffs with a perfect 3-0 record.

The roster opened the stage with a 2-1 victory over HEROIC, followed by another 2-1 win against Astralis. They then secured qualification for the playoffs by defeating The MongolZ 2-0.

The Astralis match showcased MOUZ’s resilience. After losing Ancient 14-16 despite a 9-3 halftime lead, the team responded with dominant performances on Mirage and Overpass, winning 13-1 and 13-3 respectively to close the series.

Their final qualification match was even more convincing. MOUZ crushed The MongolZ 13-1 on Ancient before finishing the series 13-11 on Overpass to book their place in the EPL Season 23 finals.

Consistent results throughout the 2026 CS2 season

The team’s return to the top three of the HLTV ranking is part of a broader trend of consistent results throughout the 2026 Counter-Strike season.

Before ESL Pro League, MOUZ finished third at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026, reaching the playoffs after victories over NAVI and FUT. They also recorded another semi-final appearance at IEM Krakow 2026, continuing a run of deep tournament finishes.

Despite the lack of a trophy so far in 2026, players have repeatedly emphasized that the team is very close to turning consistent playoff runs into championship victories.

Spinx previously stated that the roster believes only minor improvements are needed to start winning major tournaments.

“The goal is definitely to get trophies from whatever tournament. If we were even two or three percent better last year, we would probably win some events,” Spinx said in an interview with HLTV.

MOUZ players confident about closing the gap

Team captain Brollan also highlighted the importance of internal communication and learning from repeated playoff losses.

“We’re really honest with each other and look at what caused the frustration. There’s a lot of frustration when you lose playoff matches to the big teams,” Brollan said during PGL Cluj-Napoca.

He added that the key to beating top teams is maintaining cohesion and delivering strong performances as a unit.

Meanwhile, xertioN emphasized that the team has grown more comfortable playing in arena environments.

“On stage it’s much easier for us to be comfortable,” xertioN said during IEM Krakow.

AWPer torzsi also pointed to the team’s consistency as a major positive, noting that MOUZ have repeatedly reached the late stages of top-tier events.
