Rare Atom has officially released Aojie “Trash” Tian from their active CS2 roster, just over a month after benching him in favor of Junbing “Tiger” Zhen. This decision follows a rocky short stint that included standout moments and inconsistent performances.

Trash joined Rare Atom in June 2025, replacing veteran HaoWen “somebody” Xu, who had previously been benched. He had a promising start, achieving a team-high 1.34 rating during Rare Atom’s title run at GangKui Cup Season 1. However, his form eroded quickly—at FISSURE Playground 1, he dropped to a low 0.63 rating, prompting the team to bench him in favor of Tiger. Now, just four appearances in, the club has ended his term altogether. 

Tiger’s Promotion and Next Steps

Tiger, who had recently joined the team, stepped into the starting lineup and prompted consideration about the team's direction. Just weeks later, Rare Atom formalized the change by removing Trash. The team has since secured their qualification for the Perfect World CS Challenge Series 1, beating Just Swing in a three-map series. Scheduled for August 29–31 in Shanghai, the event features top teams such as 3DMAX, TYLOO, Lynn Vision, and B8. As one of two Chinese qualifiers, Rare Atom will begin competition in the lower bracket.

Despite the roster upheaval, Rare Atom are currently ranked 5th in Asia’s VRS standings, keeping them in contention for a Budapest Major qualification—Asia will receive six slots, per Valve's retained allocation model from the Austin Major.
