Jimpphat powers Aurora to dominant 2-0 victory over NAVI at StarSeries Fall 2026

Aurora opened their StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 campaign with a commanding 2-0 victory over Natus Vincere, recovering from a slow start on Nuke before dismantling NAVI on their own Mirage pick.

The Turkish-European roster won Nuke 13-8 and Mirage 13-7 to advance in the upper bracket of the eight-team Barcelona LAN. Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo was the clear difference-maker, producing a 1.44 rating across the series and finishing with 38 kills against only 23 deaths.

Aurora’s success did not depend on the usual headline performance from Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş. The Turkish rifler finished below a 1.00 rating, but Jimpphat and Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski supplied more than enough impact. The latter recorded a 1.32 rating and closed the series with a decisive Tec-9 clutch.

For NAVI, the result extended a difficult run since the summer break. Their early defensive success on Nuke quickly disappeared once they moved onto the T side, while Mirage exposed even deeper problems in their mid-round structure and positional awareness.

Aurora overturn NAVI’s 4-0 start on Nuke

Aurora selected Nuke after removing Ancient, while NAVI took Dust2 out of the pool. NAVI answered by choosing Mirage, leaving Cache as the unused decider.

The opening stages suggested Aurora might regret their pick. Drin “makazze” Shaqiri delivered several multi-kill rounds around the A site as NAVI raced into a 4-0 lead on the CT side.

Aurora responded by slowing the game down and exploiting Jimpphat’s impact from his lurking positions. A five-round streak pulled them back into the map, although Valeriy “b1t” Vakhovskiy’s use of a secondary AWP helped NAVI preserve a narrow 7-5 advantage at halftime.

That lead disappeared almost immediately after the switch.

Aurora’s defense conceded only one round in the second half, winning the CT side 8-1 to close their pick 13-8. Jimpphat was exceptional throughout the map, posting 22 kills, 99.8 ADR and a 1.55 Rating 3.0. Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın added 21 kills and a 1.50 rating, giving Aurora two consistent sources of pressure across both halves.

NAVI’s first-half success had been driven largely by iM and makazze, who finished Nuke with 1.34 and 1.27 ratings respectively. Once Aurora established control of the defensive economy, however, NAVI could not translate that individual output into a functioning attack.

The 8-1 second half told the central story of the map: Aurora adapted after the opening four rounds, while NAVI found no comparable response after changing sides.

NAVI’s Mirage pick falls apart

If Nuke offered NAVI a promising start before their collapse, Mirage was one-sided almost from the outset.

Aurora established a 9-1 lead through coordinated defensive setups and cleaner mid-round play. NAVI repeatedly failed to clear important positions and struggled to create favorable engagements after their initial utility sequences.

The half ended 9-3 in Aurora’s favor, leaving NAVI with almost no margin for error. Aurora then won the second-half pistol and quickly moved to a 12-3 advantage.

NAVI delayed the defeat with four consecutive rounds, but the comeback never developed into a genuine threat. Aurora answered by winning a force-buy, with kyxsan converting a 1v3 clutch using a Tec-9 to secure the 13-7 map and the series.

The in-game leader was Mirage’s standout performer, ending the map with 21 kills, 112.1 ADR and a 1.77 rating. Jimpphat remained productive with 16 kills and a 1.31 rating, ensuring that his influence did not disappear after his dominant Nuke performance.

NAVI’s individual numbers reflected the lack of collective control. No player finished the series with more than a 1.10 rating, and Aleksib ended at the bottom of the scoreboard with a 0.86 rating. w0nderful managed only 21 kills over the two maps and averaged 55.0 ADR.

Jimpphat takes over while Aurora’s stars play supporting roles

Jimpphat’s performance was particularly important because Aurora did not receive a dominant series from XANTARES. Instead of relying on their established star, they won through a different distribution of impact: Jimpphat controlled Nuke, kyxsan took over Mirage, and Wicadia supplied crucial support on the opening map.

That balance also illustrated the potential of Aurora’s rebuilt lineup. Jimpphat and kyxsan joined the core of XANTARES, woxic and Wicadia during the organization’s summer overhaul, with Ashley “ash” Battye taking over as coach. Beating NAVI represented the new roster’s biggest victory to date. 

For NAVI, makazze was the only player to finish above a 1.05 series rating. His early work on Nuke helped create the 4-0 opening, but his impact declined with the rest of NAVI once Aurora stabilized. The team’s greater concern was the limited contribution from its AWP: w0nderful recorded just 55.0 ADR and finished seven kills in the negative.

Aurora reverse a heavily NAVI-favored matchup

The result also broke the recent pattern between the teams. NAVI had beaten Aurora in series at ESL Pro League Season 23, BLAST Open Rotterdam and IEM Rio earlier in 2026. In Barcelona, however, Aurora won both maps and allowed NAVI only four attacking rounds across the entire series—one on Nuke and three on Mirage. 

Because this was both teams’ opening match of StarSeries Fall, there were no earlier tournament series or event ratings to compare. The relevant contrast instead came from their form before Barcelona. NAVI had lost four of their previous six recorded matches, including defeats to Legacy, M80 and G2. Aurora had also been inconsistent but arrived with recent 2-0 wins over DENDELE and M80.

In this series, Aurora looked considerably further along in solving their problems. Their recovery on Nuke showed adaptability, and their Mirage defense punished NAVI’s uncertainty without requiring an exceptional game from XANTARES.

Aurora advanced to face NRG in the upper bracket after the North American side upset MOUZ. NAVI dropped into an elimination match against MOUZ, turning the tournament’s second day into an immediate survival test. StarSeries Fall uses a double-elimination bracket, with every match played as a best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final. The Barcelona event features eight teams and a $500,000 prize pool
