Aurora Gaming overpower PARIVISION to move within one win of PGL Astana playoffs
HLTV reported that Aurora Gaming continued their recovery run at PGL Astana 2026 by defeating PARIVISION 2-0 in the Swiss stage’s 1-1 bracket. The Turkish-majority squad secured victories on Anubis (13-7) and Dust2 (16-14), improving to a 2-1 record and moving to within one best-of-three of a playoff berth. Meanwhile, PARIVISION dropped to the dangerous 1-2 pool, where another defeat would eliminate them from the tournament.
The series showcased the firepower that has helped Aurora remain among the world’s top-ranked teams throughout 2026. Ismailcan 'XANTARES' Dörtkardeş once again delivered elite impact across the two maps, while Özgür 'woxic' Eker provided crucial AWP rounds in key late-game moments. Aurora’s aggressive approach consistently disrupted PARIVISION’s structure, particularly on Anubis, where the Russian side struggled to contain fast-paced site hits and mid-round pressure.
Aurora entered the match looking to bounce back after suffering an upset defeat to HEROIC earlier in the event. That loss raised questions about the squad’s consistency despite their strong international ranking, but the victory over PARIVISION restored momentum and kept Aurora firmly in contention for a deep tournament run.
For PARIVISION, the defeat continued a turbulent campaign in Astana. The CIS squad had already been stunned by 9z Team in their opening match, where the South American side dominated the series with explosive individual performances. Although PARIVISION managed to recover with a convincing win over Fisher College, they were unable to maintain that momentum against Aurora’s experienced core.
The Dust2 map proved to be the closest contest of the series. PARIVISION repeatedly threatened to force a decider after several strong defensive rounds led by Dzhami 'Jame' Ali, but Aurora maintained composure in overtime. Crucial late-round entries and multi-kill holds eventually allowed the Turkish side to close out the map 16-14 and complete the sweep.
Aurora’s victory also reinforced the team’s status as one of the most dangerous lineups outside the title favorites. Since rebuilding around XANTARES, woxic, Engin 'MAJ3R' Küpeli, and emerging talent Ali 'Wicadia' Haydar Yalçın, the squad has consistently challenged elite opponents and climbed near the top of the global rankings.
PARIVISION, on the other hand, now face a difficult path to survival despite entering the tournament as one of the higher-ranked CIS teams. The roster built around veteran AWPer Jame has shown flashes of structure and discipline in 2026, but inconsistency against aggressive opposition has continued to be a recurring issue. With elimination matches ahead, the team will need far stronger performances from its supporting cast to stay alive in Astana.
