Rebels complete Portuguese rebuild with arrozdoce, aragornN and Shr

Rebels have completed a major rebuild of their Counter-Strike 2 roster with the signings of Rafael “arrozdoce” Wing, António “aragornN” Barbosa, and José “Shr” Gil, restoring the team to a full five-man lineup after three departures from the starting roster.

The trio joins Renato “stadodo” Gonçalves and Diogo “Icarus” Cruz, while Brazilian coach João “horvy” Horvath remains in charge. The changes replace Filipe “NOPEEj” Dias, who moved to SAW in July, Diogo “snapy” Rodrigues, who joined Famalicão in August, and Tiago “TMKj” Martins, who was moved to the bench on August 19.

The overhaul keeps Rebels fully Portuguese inside the server but significantly raises the experience level of the roster. arrozdoce returns after international spells with Ninjas in Pyjamas and OG, aragornN comes back to a domestic lineup following his stint with BC.Game, and Shr returns to competition after a lengthy period without an HLTV-recorded official.

Rebels sporting director Carlos García described the rebuild as “the biggest challenge we've taken on at RBLS within the CS2 scene,” while highlighting the existing chemistry between the players.

What Changed?

The rebuild developed over several weeks rather than arriving as a single five-player reset.

NOPEEj was the first member of the previous lineup to leave. On July 3, SAW announced him as part of their own Portuguese rebuild alongside MUTiRiS, story, ewjerkz, and krazy.

Rebels had already made a coaching change two days earlier, bringing in former Gaimin Gladiators coach horvy on July 1 after Rui “vts” Soares had left the organization in May.

The playing roster changed again on August 11 when snapy moved to Famalicão as part of a three-player signing alongside pr and rafaxF. Rebels then benched TMKj on August 19, leaving stadodo and Icarus as the only two active players from the lineup unveiled in September 2025.

The additions of arrozdoce, aragornN, and Shr now fill all three vacancies.

Previous lineup

  • stadodo
  • Icarus
  • NOPEEj
  • snapy
  • TMKj
  • vts — former coach

Updated lineup

  • stadodo — AWPer
  • Icarus
  • arrozdoce — rifler
  • aragornN — rifler
  • Shr
  • horvy — coach

Rebels have not publicly identified the in-game leader of the rebuilt lineup in their announcement, so the calling structure should remain an open question until the team provides clarification or begins playing officials.

arrozdoce returns to Portuguese Counter-Strike

arrozdoce is the most internationally experienced of the three incoming players.

The 24-year-old established himself with SAW between 2023 and 2024, playing a key part in the organization's rise during the first year of CS2. That period included qualification for PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 and a run to the semi-finals of IEM Cologne 2024.

His performances earned him an international opportunity with Ninjas in Pyjamas at the beginning of 2025. He later moved to OG, but neither project reproduced the level of individual impact he had shown during his best period with SAW.

OG benched arrozdoce in May 2026 and officially released him on July 16, making him a free agent before his move to Rebels.

That distinction is important: Rebels are not taking on a player still tied to OG's inactive roster. arrozdoce was already free of his previous contract when the new lineup was announced.

For Rebels, the move offers him a return to a Portuguese environment after roughly a year and a half on international teams.

aragornN gets another chance after BC.Game spell

aragornN arrives from a very different situation.

The 24-year-old rifler had been part of the SAW roster that finished third at PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 before BC.Game acquired the Portuguese core of aragornN, MUTiRiS, and krazy at the start of 2026.

BC.Game's version of the project never found consistent results.

The lineup featuring s1mple, electroNic, MUTiRiS, krazy, and aragornN played 44 recorded maps together and failed to achieve a LAN top-three finish. aragornN averaged a 0.87 rating during his BC.Game tenure before he and MUTiRiS were moved to the bench in April.

His final event with the lineup was PGL Bucharest 2026, where BC.Game finished 12th-14th.

Rejoining a Portuguese lineup therefore gives aragornN an opportunity to reset after a difficult international spell rather than forcing him into another unfamiliar five.

There is also considerably more familiarity around him this time. His career has included previous periods with Rhyno, GTZ, FTW, and SAW, giving him extensive history with players from Portugal's domestic circuit.

Shr returns after almost a year without officials

Shr represents the biggest competitive unknown in the rebuild.

The 25-year-old joined Imperial from SAW in July 2025 and initially helped the Brazilian organization win the Thunderpick World Championship South America Series 1 qualifier. His place in the starting five lasted only around one month, however, with Imperial replacing him with skullz on August 20, 2025.

Shr has not played an HLTV-recorded official for almost a year.

That inactivity makes his return particularly interesting. He has accumulated extensive experience in Portuguese Counter-Strike through spells with organizations including OFFSET, GTZ, FTW, and SAW, and his career statistics show that the rifle has been his primary weapon despite significant secondary AWP usage.

How quickly he can return to match sharpness is one of the clearest questions surrounding the new Rebels lineup.

Why the rebuild matters

On paper, Rebels have changed more than three names.

The outgoing roster was largely built around domestic-level players and had remained together since September 2025. The new version combines that continuity through stadodo and Icarus with players who have recently competed in considerably stronger international environments.

arrozdoce has Major and IEM Cologne playoff experience. aragornN has played international LANs with both SAW and BC.Game. Shr has experience outside Portugal from his brief period with Imperial.

The biggest potential gain is therefore not simply additional firepower, but experience against stronger opposition.

There are still uncertainties.

stadodo gives the lineup an established primary AWPer, but Rebels have not announced how leadership responsibilities will be divided. With three new players entering at once, CT positions and T-side responsibilities will also have to be redistributed.

arrozdoce and aragornN are both accustomed to meaningful rifling roles, while Shr has historically mixed rifle work with some secondary AWPing. Finding the right distribution of resources could be more important than their individual names suggest.

The advantage is familiarity. This is not a lineup built from five players with no shared history.

A roster full of reunions

Much of the new team has crossed paths before.

aragornN and Shr were both part of GTZ during 2024, while both have also represented FTW at different points in their careers. arrozdoce spent almost two years with FTW before moving to SAW in 2023, and stadodo is another former member of the organization.

aragornN also briefly stood in for SAW in late 2023 in a lineup that included arrozdoce.

The overlapping histories help explain Rebels' emphasis on chemistry in announcing the roster. The organization has assembled experienced Portuguese players rather than attempting to create an international mix from scratch.

That should reduce some of the communication and adaptation issues normally associated with replacing three-fifths of a lineup, although translating familiarity into a functioning tactical structure will still take time.

How Rebels got here

Rebels entered Portuguese Counter-Strike with this project in September 2025, signing stadodo, NOPEEj, snapy, Icarus, and TMKj.

The team brought together several players with previous FTW and Rhyno connections and marked the Spanish organization's return to Counter-Strike after moving away from its previous Polish lineup.

Results during 2026 remained largely in the lower levels of the European circuit.

In May, Rebels went 3-3 during the BC Game Masters Championship Season 2 group stage before losing to FOKUS and Betclic. Their following CCT 2026 Europe Series 3 campaign included a win over HAVU but losses to ASTRAL, Bushido Wildcats, and ex-Zero Tenacity. Their June 2 defeat to ex-Zero Tenacity remains the last HLTV-recorded match for the old core.

The roster then began to break apart during the summer.

Rather than replacing NOPEEj immediately after his SAW move, Rebels eventually used the opening as part of a wider restructure, with snapy's departure and TMKj's benching creating room for three established Portuguese players at once.

Interesting Facts

  • The new Rebels lineup remains 100% Portuguese despite being operated by a Spanish organization.
  • Only stadodo and Icarus remain active from the five-player roster announced in September 2025.
  • arrozdoce played at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 and reached the IEM Cologne 2024 semi-finals with SAW.
  • aragornN's final LAN with SAW ended with a third-place finish at PGL Masters Bucharest 2025.
  • Shr returns to an active lineup almost exactly one year after Imperial replaced him in August 2025.
  • horvy only joined Rebels as head coach on July 1, meaning the organization has changed its coach and three of its five players during the summer.

What does the new Rebels roster look like?

The rebuild gives Rebels a more accomplished roster than the one they fielded through the first half of 2026, but describing it as an automatic upgrade would ignore several uncertainties.

The upside is clear.

stadodo provides experienced AWPing, arrozdoce has already shown he can perform in a strong Portuguese team against tier-one opposition, and aragornN has accumulated valuable LAN experience over the last year. Shr adds another veteran of Portugal's domestic circuit who has also experienced an international roster.

There is enough firepower and experience to make this one of the more recognizable Portuguese lineups outside SAW.

The questions concern structure and recent form.

arrozdoce has not played an official since April. aragornN has been inactive since being benched by BC.Game in April. Shr's absence from HLTV-recorded competition stretches back to August 2025.

Three players therefore enter Rebels without recent match activity, while horvy must integrate them into a lineup that has not yet revealed its leadership structure.

The early ceiling of the project may depend less on individual reputation and more on how quickly Rebels can establish roles around stadodo's AWP and create a stable calling system.

When will the new Rebels roster debut?

Rebels have not yet had a debut match officially listed on HLTV for the new lineup as of August 21.

The team's HLTV profile currently shows no upcoming matches, meaning there is no verified opponent or tournament that can be presented as the roster's first official appearance.

That should change quickly once Rebels confirm their next competition, but assigning a debut event before an official listing would be speculative.

What Comes Next?

The immediate priority is getting the new five into official competition.

Rebels now have a complete lineup, so attention shifts from roster construction to role distribution. The identity of the in-game leader is particularly important, as is the question of how much responsibility arrozdoce, aragornN, and Shr receive after extended periods away from regular officials.

There is also a wider Portuguese storyline.

SAW rebuilt their roster in July around MUTiRiS, story, ewjerkz, krazy, and former Rebels player NOPEEj. Rebels have now assembled another lineup containing several recognizable names from the same national player pool.

That gives Portugal two experienced domestic cores heading into the latter part of 2026, with Rebels now needing results to show that their extensive summer changes can translate into progress beyond the regional scene.
