PGL Astana 2026 is ready to become one of the most important Counter-Strike 2 tournaments before the summer Major, featuring elite teams, blockbuster roster debuts, and a massive $1.6 million total payout structure.

The tournament will run from May 9-17 in Astana, Kazakhstan, with the playoffs taking place inside Barys Arena. Six top-10 teams in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) will compete for the trophy, while several organizations arrive with major roster changes that could reshape the CS2 landscape heading into the next Major cycle.

Falcons Begin the karrigan Era

One of the biggest storylines of the tournament is the debut of Finn Andersen with Falcons.

The legendary in-game leader officially joined Falcons ahead of Astana after leaving FaZe, reuniting with former teammates Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen.

After the transfer was announced, karrigan said:

“Excited to announce that I’m joining Falcons and reconnecting with my old brothers NiKo and Danny. Let’s make history.”

Falcons moved for the Danish veteran after benching Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski shortly before the event. kyxsan later described the timing as “unfortunate” ahead of the upcoming Major season but thanked the organization for the opportunity.

The new Falcons roster will make its debut against K27 in the opening round of PGL Astana 2026.

MOUZ Debut Revamped CS2 Lineup

MOUZ will also enter the event with a heavily changed lineup.

The organization added Justinas “jL” Lekavicius on loan while promoting academy talent Adrian “xelex” Vincze to the main roster.

MOUZ coach Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen admitted the decision behind the roster overhaul was difficult, especially regarding former IGL Brollan:

“This decision is not fair to Brollan on a personal level. But leadership sometimes means accepting that fairness and necessity are not always the same thing.”

Astana will be the first real test for the rebuilt MOUZ project against top-tier international competition.
