paiN kept their CS Asia Championships 2026 campaign alive by defeating TYLOO 2-1 in the Group A lower bracket semi-final, eliminating the hometown favorites from the tournament and denying them the chance to play in front of the Shanghai crowd during the playoff stage.

The Brazilian squad recovered after a disappointing opening loss earlier in the event and now move on to a high-stakes elimination match against MOUZ for a place in the playoffs. The result also marked paiN’s second consecutive deep LAN run following their 5th-6th place finish at IEM Atlanta.

The series began on Mirage, TYLOO’s own map pick, but the Chinese side struggled to gain any momentum. paiN controlled the pace from the start and stormed to a convincing 13-5 victory, exposing defensive gaps and consistently shutting down TYLOO’s mid-round attempts.

TYLOO answered back on Nuke with a far more composed performance. Strong CT-side setups and improved individual form from the Chinese riflers allowed them to secure a 13-8 win and push the series to a decider.

However, Overpass quickly turned into another one-sided affair. paiN regained control with aggressive openings and cleaner executes, eventually closing the map 13-6 to seal the series 2-1.

Several paiN players delivered strong individual performances throughout the match, with the Brazilian side once again relying on its aggressive tempo and experienced core to overpower TYLOO in key rounds. The victory continued paiN’s recent trend of eliminating the Chinese roster at major international events. Back in late 2025, paiN also knocked TYLOO out of BLAST Rivals Season 2, similarly preventing the home team from reaching the arena stage in front of local fans.

For TYLOO, the result was another frustrating ending to a tournament that initially showed promise. The Chinese squad had opened CAC with a massive upset victory over MOUZ, one of the tournament favorites, creating hopes of a breakthrough playoff appearance on home soil.

Instead, consecutive losses ultimately ended their campaign before the arena phase once again. The elimination adds to a growing list of missed opportunities for TYLOO at top-tier international events, despite flashes of strong form against elite opposition. HLTV previously described CAC as a “lifeline” event for the roster as they attempted to rebuild momentum ahead of future international tournaments and the Major cycle.

paiN’s reward is a difficult playoff qualification match against MOUZ, while TYLOO leave Shanghai early despite entering the tournament with significant local support and expectations.
