Nexus Go International With New CS2 Roster After Ending Romanian-Only Era

Romanian esports organization Nexus Gaming has officially revealed a new international Counter-Strike 2 roster, ending the club’s decade-long commitment to exclusively Romanian lineups. The move represents one of the biggest transitions in the organization’s history as Nexus attempts to rebuild its position in the competitive CS2 scene after a difficult 2025-2026 period.

According to HLTV, the new Nexus CS2 roster will feature Romanian core players Mihai “fNk” Costache and Alexandru “s0und” Ștefan alongside three international additions: French rifler Sébastien “SBT” Sabbadin, Latvian AWPer Roberts “shield” Tipsis, and Belgian player Bram “Nexius” Campana.

Nexus End 10-Year Romanian CS Legacy

For more than 10 years, Nexus built its identity around Romanian Counter-Strike talent, becoming one of the country’s most recognizable esports organizations. The organization confirmed the strategic shift in its official announcement, stating:

“Over the past 10 years, we have achieved great results, built teams, and brought talent to the international scene, all while staying 100% Romanian. Now it is time for the international scene to give something back to us.”

The transition to an international CS2 roster comes after the team struggled to maintain consistent results in the Valve Regional Standings. At the beginning of 2025, Nexus were close to breaking into the top 20 of the VRS rankings, but by March 2026 they had fallen outside the top 100 following disappointing tournament performances, including a 21st-24th finish at DraculaN Season 6.

New Nexus CS2 Roster

The updated Nexus CS2 lineup is:

Mihai “fNk” Costache

Alexandru “s0und” Ștefan

Sébastien “SBT” Sabbadin

Roberts “shield” Tipsis

Bram “Nexius” Campana

Coach:

Cătălin “H4rder” Hardulea

Who Are the New Nexus Players?

Roberts “shield” Tipsis Joins From 9INE

Latvian sniper Roberts “shield” Tipsis arrives from 9INE after a short stint with the organization. shield originally joined 9INE’s active roster as the team’s primary AWPer in January 2026 before being benched in March following the arrival of Alan “flayy” Krupa.

After the transfer was announced, shield confirmed the move on social media, saying he was “proud to announce” his signing with Nexus.

Bram “Nexius” Campana Brings Tier-2 Experience

Belgian player Bram “Nexius” Campana adds valuable international experience to the roster. Before joining Nexus, Nexius spent time with MOUZ NXT, OG, and Nemesis.

His experience in European tier-2 Counter-Strike could become an important factor as Nexus attempt to climb the CS2 rankings again.

s0und Remains Key Piece for Nexus

Romanian rifler Alexandru “s0und” Ștefan remains one of the organization’s most reliable players. Since the start of 2025, s0und has maintained a 1.07 HLTV rating, making him one of the strongest performers in the previous Nexus lineup.

Meanwhile, veteran in-game leader fNk continues to lead the project after joining the team alongside coach H4rder around the beginning of 2025.

Nexus Previously Tested Romanian Talent Project

Interestingly, the international rebuild comes only weeks after Nexus announced a temporary Romanian talent project. In April 2026, the organization revealed plans to trial inexperienced Romanian players around the existing core of fNk, s0und, and Blytz for the remainder of the season.

However, the organization has now fully committed to an international direction in an effort to become more competitive in European Counter-Strike 2.

Can Nexus Return to the Top 100 in CS2?

The new international roster gives Nexus significantly more experience and firepower compared to its previous lineup. The combination of Romanian veterans and experienced European players could help the organization become competitive again in online CS2 tournaments and Valve Regional Standings events.

Whether the gamble pays off remains to be seen, but Nexus have officially entered a new era in Counter-Strike.
