NAVI Reach IEM Atlanta 2026 Playoffs After Narrow Win Over GamerLegion, SINNERS Eliminate Passion UA
NAVI survive GamerLegion thriller to secure IEM Atlanta playoffs spot
Natus Vincere secured a place in the IEM Atlanta 2026 playoffs after defeating GamerLegion 2-1 in a dramatic Group B upper-bracket clash.
The international CS2 powerhouse looked dominant early in the series, crushing Inferno 13-4 behind an outstanding performance from Valeriy Vakhovskiy. However, GamerLegion responded with a brutal 13-1 victory on Ancient before NAVI recovered on Mirage to close the decider 13-11 and officially qualify for the IEM Atlanta playoffs.
The victory keeps NAVI in contention for a direct semi-final berth at one of the biggest Counter-Strike 2 tournaments of the year.
NAVI vs GamerLegion recap
NAVI entered the match as heavy favorites after opening their IEM Atlanta campaign with a clean victory over Passion UA. Inferno initially suggested another comfortable win, with b1t, Aleksi Virolainen, and Ihor Zhdanov controlling the pace from start to finish.
But GamerLegion completely flipped the momentum on Ancient. NAVI struggled to find openings on either side of the map as GamerLegion stormed to an 11-round CT half before closing the map with ease.
Mirage delivered the closest moments of the series. NAVI built an early lead, but GamerLegion repeatedly fought back to keep the match within reach. The final rounds came down to late-round executions and clutch defensive holds before NAVI finally secured the 13-11 win.
iM admits NAVI still have problems to solve
Following the match, NAVI rifler Mihai Ivan admitted the team remains inconsistent despite reaching the playoffs.
According to HLTV, iM said:
“It feels good to win, but it was a very close game, it could have gone both ways.”
The Romanian star also acknowledged NAVI’s disastrous performance on Ancient:
“We got smacked on Ancient.”
Perhaps most importantly, iM suggested NAVI’s biggest challenge is internal consistency rather than external competition:
“I think the biggest opponent for us is us, not Astralis, not Legacy, not even Vitality.”
Those comments echo concerns surrounding NAVI throughout the 2026 Counter-Strike season, where the team has shown championship-level peaks but occasional map collapses against lower-ranked opponents.
SINNERS eliminate Passion UA from IEM Atlanta
Elsewhere in Group B, SINNERS eliminated Passion UA with a 2-1 victory.
Passion UA opened the series with a strong 13-8 win on Dust2, but SINNERS answered back on Mirage before taking Overpass to close the series and stay alive in the tournament.
The result marks a major milestone for SINNERS, who entered IEM Atlanta as replacement participants after BET-M withdrew from the event earlier this year.
For Passion UA, the loss continues a difficult period for the roster following recent lineup instability and role changes.
NAVI remain among favorites to win IEM Atlanta 2026
Despite the shaky series against GamerLegion, NAVI remain one of the strongest teams left in the tournament alongside Team Vitality.
Coach Andrey Gorodenskiy recently stated that NAVI are still aiming to become “trophy contenders” again after rebuilding confidence earlier in the season.
With the playoffs now secured, NAVI will look to clean up their inconsistencies before facing tougher opposition in the final stages of IEM Atlanta 2026.
