MOUZ End PGL Astana Campaign With Dominant Third-Place Victory Over magic

MOUZ wrapped up their first tournament with the organization’s rebuilt lineup by securing third place at PGL Astana 2026 following a convincing 2-0 victory over surprise package magic in the bronze match. The European squad dominated the series from start to finish, winning Mirage 13-2 before closing Inferno 13-7 to end their campaign in emphatic fashion.

The result marked a strong conclusion to MOUZ’s debut event with new additions Justinas 'jL' Lekavicius and xelex, with the roster showing clear improvement throughout the tournament despite only recently assembling. After early inconsistencies during the Swiss stage, MOUZ managed to stabilize their performances and eventually reach the playoffs, where they defeated Aurora before falling to Spirit in a brutal semi-final loss.

Against magic, however, MOUZ looked fully in control. Mirage immediately turned into a one-sided affair as MOUZ overwhelmed their opponents with relentless pace and superior firepower. jL produced one of his best performances since joining the organization, helping the team completely dismantle magic’s defenses and limiting them to only two rounds on the opening map.

Inferno offered slightly more resistance, but MOUZ still maintained control for most of the map. Strong CT-side setups and consistent multi-kill rounds prevented magic from building momentum, allowing MOUZ to comfortably secure the series and lock in a top-three finish at the $1.6 million event in Kazakhstan.

The third-place finish represents an encouraging start for MOUZ’s new era. The team entered Astana surrounded by questions after significant roster changes, but gradually improved across the event. Wins over teams such as Aurora and solid playoff performances suggested the lineup already possesses considerable potential despite limited preparation time together. Community discussion around the event also highlighted how respectable the result was considering the team had integrated two new players shortly before the tournament.

MOUZ’s only major setback came against Team Spirit in the semi-finals, where Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and company delivered one of the most dominant playoff performances of the year. Spirit allowed MOUZ only five total rounds across Dust2 and Nuke, completely shutting down their hopes of reaching the grand final.

Still, bouncing back immediately with such a decisive victory over magic allowed MOUZ to leave Astana with momentum and optimism for the remainder of the season. The tournament also provided valuable early signs that the new lineup can quickly become competitive at the highest level once the roster gains additional experience together.
