Mauisnake Slams Team Falcons CS2 Project After Another Grand Final Collapse
Team Falcons are once again facing heavy criticism after another disappointing Counter-Strike 2 grand final defeat. CS2 analyst Alex “Mauisnake” Ellenberg called Falcons a “failed project” and claimed the organization has no clear future despite building one of the most expensive rosters in competitive Counter-Strike.
The discussion started during a Last Free Nation broadcast, where Mauisnake reacted to Falcons’ recent results and the growing pressure surrounding the roster.
Mauisnake: Falcons Were “Set Up to Fail”
According to Mauisnake, Team Falcons have consistently failed to meet expectations since entering the top tier of CS2 competition.
He stated that Falcons will remain “a failed project for as long as the organization exists,” criticizing the team’s inability to convert superstar signings into championship victories.
The comments followed Falcons’ loss in the CS Asia Championships 2026 grand final against Legacy. Falcons opened the series with a win on Nuke but later lost Ancient, Mirage, and Dust2 to fall 1-3 in the final.
The defeat added another painful chapter to Falcons’ growing list of lost finals in 2026.
Falcons Continue Losing Big CS2 Finals
Despite assembling a roster filled with elite talent, Falcons have struggled to win trophies on the biggest stages.
The current Team Falcons CS2 lineup includes:
- Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
- Finn “karrigan” Andersen
- Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov
- René “TeSeS” Madsen
- Maksim “kyousuke” Lukin
The organization invested heavily in the roster throughout the season, including the signing of legendary in-game leader karrigan in April 2026.
At the time of his transfer, karrigan said he wanted to reunite with NiKo and coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen to “make history” with Falcons.
However, results have not matched expectations.
According to Esports Charts, Falcons have now lost seven consecutive S-tier grand finals since m0NESY joined the organization, creating what many fans are calling one of the biggest “runner-up curses” in modern CS2.
Kassad Also Questions Falcons’ Future
Mauisnake is not alone in criticizing the team.
Analyst Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović recently argued that even the addition of karrigan would not be enough to save Falcons’ season. Kassad claimed the team has “no chance” of winning major tournaments if current issues remain unresolved.
He also predicted Falcons would struggle to make a deep playoff run at the upcoming IEM Cologne Major 2026.
The criticism mainly focuses on Falcons’ inconsistency in high-pressure matches, especially during playoffs and grand finals.
NiKo Still Believes Falcons Can Win Titles
Despite the growing backlash, NiKo remains confident in the project.
After the loss to Legacy, the Bosnian superstar admitted Falcons looked exhausted compared to their earlier performances during the season. Still, he said he believes the lineup can achieve “great things” once the team overcomes its mental barrier in finals.
Falcons currently remain one of the highest-ranked CS2 teams in the world, but public perception around the roster continues to decline after every missed trophy opportunity.
Can Team Falcons Recover Before IEM Cologne 2026?
With IEM Cologne Major 2026 approaching, pressure on Falcons is reaching a critical level.
The organization built a roster capable of winning Counter-Strike’s biggest tournaments, but repeated failures in grand finals have raised serious questions about the team’s chemistry, leadership, and mentality.
If Falcons fail again at Cologne, criticism from analysts like Mauisnake and kassad will likely intensify even further.
For now, Team Falcons remain one of the most talented — and controversial — teams in professional CS2.
