Lynn Vision Crowned Yuqilin PoB S3 Champions as TYLOO Forfeit Grand Final Due to Illness
Lynn Vision were awarded the championship title of Yuqilin Pinnacle of Battle Season 3 after TYLOO forfeited the grand final due to medical issues, bringing an unusual and highly debated tournament run to a close.
The grand final, scheduled as a best-of-five series, never got underway. TYLOO were forced to withdraw as multiple players were reportedly unwell, with illness spreading across the roster following their return from international competition. As a result, Lynn Vision were granted a default 1-0 victory in the final and secured the trophy without playing a single map.
This outcome marked the second time Lynn Vision advanced through the playoffs via forfeit. Earlier in the event, they had already received a walkover win against Rare Atom, who withdrew from their match amid a dispute with tournament organizers regarding lateness penalties.
Additionally, TYLOO themselves had previously forfeited a playoff series against Lynn Vision due to a scheduling conflict with the XSE GangKui Cup Season 2 Finals, further contributing to the chaotic nature of the tournament bracket.
Health Issues and Scheduling Chaos
TYLOO’s final withdrawal was attributed to widespread illness within the squad. Reports indicated that after returning from a prior event, multiple players—including key members of the roster—fell sick, leaving the team in no condition to compete at a high level.
The situation was compounded by an extremely congested schedule. TYLOO were simultaneously competing in multiple tournaments, including the XSE GangKui Cup finals, raising concerns about player workload and logistical conflicts in the Asian CS2 circuit.
A Controversial Path to the Title
Lynn Vision’s route to the trophy has drawn significant attention due to the lack of played matches in the decisive stages. Across the four-team double-elimination playoff bracket, the team accumulated crucial ranking points largely through forfeits rather than in-server victories.
These results had major implications for the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) race. Lynn Vision collected valuable points that boosted their position in Asia’s rankings and strengthened their chances of qualifying for upcoming top-tier events, including the race toward Major participation.
However, the circumstances sparked criticism from parts of the community, with concerns raised about competitive integrity and the potential for scheduling conflicts or forfeits to influence qualification outcomes.
Tournament Impact and Broader Context
The events surrounding Yuqilin PoB S3 highlight broader structural issues in the current competitive calendar, particularly in regions where teams often juggle overlapping events. Similar concerns have already been observed globally, with teams in other regions also facing forced forfeits due to scheduling clashes during critical qualification periods.
Despite the controversy, Lynn Vision officially leave the event as champions, extending their strong run of form and capitalizing on the circumstances to secure both the title and valuable ranking gains.
