Legacy Make Major Roster Change, Bench IGL lux and Reportedly Set to Sign Veteran arT

Brazilian esports organization Legacy have officially moved long-time in-game leader Lucas “lux” Meneghini off their active Counter-Strike 2 roster, ending his run as the team’s captain after roughly 13 months with the lineup. According to a report by Brazilian outlet Dust2.com.br and confirmed by Legacy’s own announcements, the team is in advanced talks to sign experienced rifler and former FURIA captain Andrei “arT” Piovezan from Fluxo as lux’s replacement.

The decision to bench lux comes amid a challenging start to Legacy’s 2026 campaign. After climbing the global standings in 2025—including a deep run to Stage 3 at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, a trophy win at CS Asia Championships, and a second-place finish at PGL Masters Bucharest, which helped them reach a peak No. 8 ranking—the team has struggled to replicate that form this year. In IEM Kraków Stage 1, Legacy went winless against BC.Game and FUT, finishing bottom of their group and ultimately exiting the event earlier than expected.

What Changed?

lux, 23, originally joined Legacy’s Counter-Strike 2 roster early in 2025, replacing paiN and bringing his aggressive Brazilian playstyle to the squad. His tenure included notable successes, but this season lux and Legacy have failed to meet expectations, leading the organization to adjust its lineup. The benching means lux will no longer participate in official matches for Legacy, though he remains under contract and available as a substitute or for future transfers.

The Legacy lineup for upcoming events—including the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 Major qualifiers—is now listed without lux on competitive rosters, with coach Bruno “RiVAS” Rivetti expected to step in as stand-in IGL until a permanent replacement is formally signed.

arT: A Veteran Presence

The reported target to replace lux is Andrei “arT” Piovezan, a 29-year-old Brazilian veteran with extensive experience at the top level of Counter-Strike. arT has previously captained teams such as FURIA and most recently played for Fluxo, where he was part of the starting lineup before being benched.

arT is one of Brazil’s most seasoned players, known for his leadership and in-game strategy—qualities that made him FURIA’s captain for several years and a consistent presence at high-level events including multiple majors. His career spans numerous top Brazilian organizations, and he has competed in major tournaments such as the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 with Fluxo.

According to available player profiles, arT’s statistical contributions over his career have shown solid performance across many maps and competitions, and his experience is widely seen as an asset for teams looking to stabilize their roster leadership.

Why This Matters

The move has sparked discussion within the Counter-Strike community, as benching an established IGL like lux—especially after a period of growth and notable results—marks a significant moment for Legacy’s strategic direction. Critics and fans alike have weighed in on social platforms, with some questioning whether the change will be enough to reverse the team’s recent downturn, and others noting that the Brazilian scene’s shallow pool of in-game leaders makes such decisions especially impactful.

For Legacy, the key challenge now is integrating arT into the roster if the deal goes through, and returning to the form that brought them results on the international stage in 2025. Legacy’s next official tournaments will test the team’s cohesion and the effectiveness of this roster overhaul.
