IEM Cologne Major Stage 1 Round 4 Matchups Locked In As Teams Fight for Survival

The fourth round of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 1 Swiss bracket has been finalized following a dramatic third day of action. With two teams already securing progression and two others eliminated, the remaining participants now enter the most decisive stage of the tournament so far.

Stage 1 of the Major features a 16-team Swiss format, where teams need three victories to advance to Stage 2 and three losses to be eliminated. After three rounds, B8 and BetBoom became the first teams to qualify, while SINNERS and Gaimin Gladiators were the first squads sent home.

The focus now shifts to Round 4, where several organizations will either keep their Major dreams alive or move one step closer to the next stage.

Teams One Win Away From Stage 2

Three qualification matches headline the Round 4 schedule.

GamerLegion vs BIG

Both European sides enter the series with 2-1 records after mixed results throughout the opening rounds. BIG bounced back from an opening defeat to secure consecutive victories, while GamerLegion recovered after narrowly missing out on direct qualification against BetBoom. The winner will join B8 and BetBoom in Stage 2, while the loser will receive one final opportunity in Round 5.

MIBR vs Lynn Vision

MIBR have quietly put together one of the strongest campaigns of the stage, defeating TYLOO and Liquid after an opening loss. Lynn Vision, meanwhile, continued their impressive rise by taking down HEROIC and Sharks to reach a 2-1 record. The matchup guarantees at least one non-European team a place in Stage 2.

HEROIC vs Liquid

Perhaps the most anticipated clash of the round sees two notable organizations meeting in a high-pressure qualification match. Liquid were pushed to the brink after a narrow defeat against MIBR, while HEROIC recovered from a disastrous start to eliminate Gaimin Gladiators and stay alive. With a Stage 2 berth on the line, neither team can afford another setback.

Elimination Matches Take Center Stage

At the other end of the bracket, four teams are fighting to avoid becoming the next casualties of the Major.

THUNDER dOWNUNDER vs FlyQuest

The all-Oceanic showdown guarantees one representative from the region will remain alive in Cologne. Both teams sit at 1-2 and have struggled for consistency, making this a winner-takes-all battle for survival.

TYLOO vs Sharks

TYLOO kept their campaign alive with a crucial victory over SINNERS, while Sharks were unable to build on a promising start after defeats to M80 and Lynn Vision. The winner advances to Round 5; the loser is eliminated from the Major.

M80 vs NRG

North America is guaranteed to lose one team in this elimination match. M80 looked poised to qualify after opening with two victories but suffered a costly defeat against B8 in a qualification series. NRG, meanwhile, recovered from an opening loss and remain in contention despite an inconsistent run.

Stage 1 Reaches Its Defining Moment

The fourth round marks the point where the Swiss system begins separating genuine contenders from teams merely hoping to survive. By the end of the day, three more organizations will secure their spots in Stage 2, while three others will see their Major campaign come to an end.

With only eight Stage 2 places available from Stage 1, every map now carries enormous weight. Teams such as Liquid, HEROIC, BIG and GamerLegion entered Cologne with ambitions of making a deep Major run, but only one more victory stands between them and the next phase of the tournament.
