Legacy Appoint adR as Coach for Remainder of 2026 Season Ahead of IEM Cologne Major
Brazilian CS2 team Legacy make another leadership change as adR steps in as coach for the rest of the season, with IEM Cologne 2026 approaching
Legacy have officially confirmed that Alan “adR” Riveros will serve as the team’s coach for the remainder of the 2026 season, replacing Bruno “RiVAS” Rivetti in the active role. The decision comes at a critical time for the Brazilian squad as they prepare for upcoming events, including BetBoom Rush B and the IEM Cologne Major 2026.
While RiVAS remains under contract, the organization has not clarified whether he will return after the Major, leaving uncertainty around Legacy’s long-term coaching structure.
Legacy Continue 2026 Roster and Staff Shakeups
The coaching change is the latest in a series of adjustments for Legacy throughout 2026. Earlier this year, the team replaced former coach Olavo “chucky” Napoleão with RiVAS, before making a major in-game leadership shift by signing Andrei “arT” Piovezan in February.
That move also saw Lucas “lux” Meneghini step away from the active lineup, solidifying the current roster:
dumau
latto
n1ssim
saadzin
arT
Coach: adR
Despite the instability, Legacy have maintained strong rankings, sitting around the top 15 globally, highlighting the team’s resilience during constant structural changes.
Cologne Major 2026 Looms Large for Legacy
The timing of adR’s promotion is especially significant given Legacy’s position in the IEM Cologne Major 2026 qualification race. Following a strong run at ESL Pro League Season 23, the team significantly boosted their chances of securing a Major spot.
Legacy’s deep playoff run not only improved their ranking but also reinforced their reputation as one of the most promising Brazilian CS2 teams heading into the second half of the season.
Maintaining consistency will now be the key challenge as the team adapts to yet another coaching transition.
Players Back arT’s Leadership and Team Direction
Despite the frequent changes, internal confidence within the squad appears strong. In a recent interview, Guilherme “saadzin” Pacheco praised the impact of new in-game leader arT:
“arT is very good, not only in the server but also out of game.”
Saadzin also emphasized the team’s long-term ambition:
“The sky is the limit… your goal will always be to, step by step, reach top one.”
These comments highlight a shift in mentality within Legacy, focusing more on structured team play and long-term growth rather than individual performance.
Team Identity Built on System Over Individual Stats
Saadzin has previously underlined Legacy’s evolving philosophy, making it clear that winning takes priority over personal numbers:
“I don’t care about stats. I’m just thinking, ‘If you get 13 rounds, that’s it.’”
He added that the team dynamic has changed significantly, allowing players like dumau and latto to shine while others adapt into more supportive roles.
This system-driven approach could prove crucial as adR steps into the coaching role and looks to maintain stability.
From Major Opportunity to Tier-1 Contender
Legacy’s rise over the past year has been marked by key milestones. The team earned a spot at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, where they delivered a statement victory over Vitality (13-3) in the Swiss stage.
Moments like these helped establish Legacy as a legitimate contender on the international stage, raising expectations for their performances in 2026.
What adR’s Appointment Means for Legacy
AdR’s transition from assistant to head coach puts him in a crucial position during one of the most important stretches of Legacy’s season. With Major qualification and deep tournament runs on the line, his ability to stabilize the roster will be closely watched.
The biggest question remains whether this move is temporary or the beginning of a longer-term coaching solution.
