hypex: “I’ve already shown what I’m capable of in practice — time to prove it in officials”
hypex Feels More at Home in GamerLegion After Bootcamp
Following a mid-season signing, hypex admits that adjusting to his new squad wasn’t immediate. Before the Major, he had only eight full practice days with GamerLegion — “that’s not a lot,” he noted.
But the team’s pre-Major bootcamp changed things. According to hypex, he’s now more comfortable: “At the start, it was much harder than it is now… I’m finding my way in more and more, and I think it’s going to get better and better over time.”
That growing comfort has translated into confidence. “I’ve already shown the guys what I’m capable of in practice,” he said. “Now it’s time to show it in officials so more people can see.”
Major Debut: Promise and Frustration Mixed
GamerLegion’s start at the Budapest Major was far from smooth, losing their first two games.
Still, hypex remains optimistic. After their second game, he said: “I’m feeling super good … we felt control all the time, and I think we showed it in the server as well.”
When asked about the inconsistencies — the high peaks and deep troughs — he acknowledged the rocky start. With limited practice leading up to the Major, it was difficult to find rhythm, he said.
He also pointed to the format: in a BO1, losing all pistol rounds makes a comeback almost impossible. “We lost 4/4 pistols … starting from 0-2 or 0-3 in the next half, it’s not easy.” But, he added, “that’s no excuse … it was just a bad day.”
Role Clarity: A Balanced AWPer, Not Just a Support
On his role within the team, hypex says that while he isn’t a hyper-aggressive AWPer by default, he feels comfortable mixing it up when needed. “I know I’m not going to be the most aggressive AWPer… but I’m also feeling good with that,” he explained.
He praised GamerLegion’s riflers — and sees value in balance: sometimes he’ll hold angles, at others he’ll step up aggressively, especially when teammates like REZ or PR take over rifle duties.
Still, hypex knows the stats aren’t everything. Despite a “pop-off” performance at the Major with a strong rating (he mentioned around 1.70), he emphasized that in the end, “I still want to win.”
What’s Next for GamerLegion — and hypex
With a shaky start already behind them, GamerLegion find themselves in must-win scenarios as they move deeper into the Major’s Swiss stage. The squad has a history of overcoming 0-2 starts — back at the Paris Major and the Shanghai RMR — often sneaking through on clutch comebacks.
For hypex, that means his moment to shine might be very soon. He believes the bootcamp and increased familiarity with the team have set him up for success, and now, “it’s time to show” what he can really do under pressure.
GamerLegion fans will be watching — if hypex delivers, the Major could turn into a story of redemption.
