On Anubis, FUT recovered from an 11-5 deficit to force overtime before tN1R helped Spirit regain control. Ancient followed a similar pattern in reverse: FUT built a 12-9 advantage but failed to close, allowing Spirit to force another overtime and eventually move 2-1 ahead in the series.

Spirit opened up a 10-2 halftime lead and FUT never found a route back into the game. Coolio argued that his team had reads that put players in the correct positions, but the individual duels were no longer going their way.

That is where his explanation moved from Counter-Strike specifics to energy and mentality. After spending two consecutive maps in overtime, then watching a 12-9 lead disappear on Ancient, FUT no longer looked like the team that had pushed Spirit throughout the opening three maps.

A difficult Nuke was not simply a map-pool problem

Nuke was always likely to be one of the uncomfortable parts of the series for FUT.

The more interesting element of the veto came earlier. FUT used the fact that both sides normally remove Inferno to take Dust2 out themselves and gamble on Cache, a map they had not previously played officially with this lineup. The decision worked: FUT took their surprise pick 13-10 to open the final.

That made the eventual Nuke collapse easier to label as a map-pool weakness, but coolio pushed against such a simple explanation.

The run was not built on a single upset, either. FUT defeated MOUZ twice during the tournament — 2-1 in the group stage and 2-0 in the quarter-finals — before overcoming FURIA 2-1 in the semi-final.
