GamerLegion Knock Liquid Out of IEM Atlanta 2026 as Liquid’s Struggles Continue
GamerLegion knocked Liquid out of IEM Atlanta 2026 after a dominant 2-0 victory in the tournament’s lower bracket, extending Liquid’s disappointing run in CS2 competition.
The European squad secured the series with wins on Mirage (13-9) and Nuke (13-6), advancing further into the event while Liquid exited the tournament earlier than expected. According to HLTV, Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelof delivered a standout performance with a 1.46 rating across the series.
Liquid Fail to Recover After Slow Start
Liquid entered IEM Atlanta hoping to rebound after several inconsistent results in recent months. However, the team once again struggled to translate practice into stage success.
The North American side opened the event with a loss to Astralis before narrowly surviving elimination against M80 in a three-map series. Their run ultimately ended against a confident GamerLegion roster that looked far more composed in key moments.
On Mirage, Liquid managed to recover after a disastrous opening half but failed to complete the comeback. GamerLegion repeatedly punished Liquid’s economy with crucial low-buy round wins to close the map 13-9.
Nuke proved even more difficult for Liquid. GamerLegion dominated the CT side and built complete control early in the game before comfortably sealing a 13-6 victory.
siuhy Admits Liquid Are in a “Very Tough Moment”
Following the elimination, Liquid captain Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek spoke openly about the team’s current problems.
“A lot of disappointment,” siuhy told HLTV after the match, explaining that Liquid had spent nearly three weeks practicing before the tournament but failed to show their preparation on stage.
The Polish in-game leader admitted confidence has become a serious issue for the roster after several poor tournament finishes throughout 2026.
According to siuhy, Liquid may only need “one good win” to regain momentum, but he emphasized that the team must stay mentally focused heading into the remainder of the season.
Despite the difficult result, siuhy praised Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, calling the Guatemalan rifler “the type of player that we needed.” He highlighted malbsMd’s aggression, communication, and ability to bring fresh ideas into the team structure.
GamerLegion Continue Strong IEM Atlanta Campaign
The victory over Liquid continued GamerLegion’s impressive lower-bracket run at IEM Atlanta.
Earlier in the tournament, GamerLegion pushed NAVI to a competitive three-map series and even crushed the Ukrainian organization 13-1 on Ancient before narrowly losing the decider on Mirage. NAVI player Mihai “iM” Ivan later admitted GamerLegion’s aggressive pace caused serious problems during the match.
GamerLegion later secured a playoff berth by defeating Astralis in another elimination series, confirming one of the organization’s strongest tier-one tournament performances of the season.
What’s Next for Liquid?
Liquid now face increased pressure ahead of their remaining events of the season as questions continue surrounding the roster’s consistency and long-term direction.
While the addition of malbsMd brought optimism earlier in the year, the team has yet to establish stability against elite opposition. With confidence clearly shaken, Liquid’s next tournaments could become crucial for the future of the project under siuhy.
Meanwhile, GamerLegion move forward with growing momentum and renewed confidence after eliminating one of North America’s biggest organizations from IEM Atlanta 2026.
