GamerLegion’s hypex Admits Major Pressure Surpassed Atlanta Final Nerves After Stage 2 Qualification

GamerLegion secured their place in the next stage of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 after a hard-fought victory over BIG, but for Milan “hypex” Polowiec, the result meant much more than another win on the tournament bracket. The Polish rifler revealed that the emotional weight of the Major created a level of pressure he had not experienced even during GamerLegion’s run to the IEM Atlanta grand final just a few weeks earlier.

Speaking after the match, hypex described a feeling of relief following the victory. According to the 22-year-old, GamerLegion’s qualification validated the team’s belief that they belong among the Major’s strongest contenders. At the same time, he stressed that advancing was only the first objective and that the squad intends to push significantly deeper into the event.

The match against BIG proved to be one of GamerLegion’s toughest tests of the tournament so far. While the team ultimately secured progression, hypex admitted that the encounter was personally demanding. The pressure of competing at a Major appeared to affect him more than previous high-profile appearances, including the IEM Atlanta final, where GamerLegion reached the championship match against NAVI.

His comments are particularly notable considering the rapid rise GamerLegion have enjoyed throughout 2026. Just weeks before arriving in Cologne, the international roster produced one of its strongest results in recent years by reaching the grand final of IEM Atlanta. During that event, GamerLegion defeated Legacy in the semifinals to secure their first major grand-final appearance since the organization’s memorable run to the BLAST.tv Paris Major final in 2023.

Although GamerLegion ultimately fell to NAVI in Atlanta, the tournament was viewed as a breakthrough moment for the roster. NAVI claimed the title with a convincing victory, while GamerLegion demonstrated that they could compete with elite opposition on big stages. The event also featured several standout performances from the squad’s players, helping restore GamerLegion’s status as a dangerous contender in tier-one Counter-Strike.

For hypex personally, the journey has been equally significant. Earlier in the season, he spoke about experiencing arena matches for the first time and expressed excitement about testing himself against the world’s best teams in front of large crowds. Those experiences helped accelerate his development as a professional player and gave him valuable exposure to high-pressure environments.

However, the Major presented a different challenge altogether. Unlike standalone arena events, Majors carry a unique level of prestige within Counter-Strike. The stakes are higher, the scrutiny is greater, and every result has a lasting impact on players’ careers and legacies. That context helps explain why hypex felt more nervous during GamerLegion’s clash with BIG than he did while competing for a trophy in Atlanta.

The timing of his improved performances has also become an important storyline for GamerLegion. During the interview, hypex discussed an uptick in his individual form, suggesting that he has been finding more confidence in recent matches. The team’s results support that assessment. Since the spring season, GamerLegion have consistently challenged higher-ranked opponents and converted several deep playoff runs into meaningful progress.

Their Cologne campaign has not been entirely straightforward. Earlier in Stage 1, GamerLegion suffered a defeat to BetBoom in a qualification match and were forced to take a longer route through the bracket. Instead of collapsing under pressure, the team responded by grinding out crucial victories, culminating in the win over BIG that booked their place in the next phase of the Major.

The result reinforces the growing perception that GamerLegion are evolving from a dangerous outsider into a legitimate contender. The organization’s run to the Atlanta final, combined with its ability to recover from setbacks in Cologne, demonstrates a level of resilience that has often separated championship-caliber teams from the rest of the field.

For hypex, the next challenge will be transforming that relief into momentum. While advancing from the opening stage was an important milestone, GamerLegion’s ambitions extend much further. The Polish player made it clear that qualification alone is not enough. After overcoming nerves that exceeded anything he felt in Atlanta, he and his teammates now have an opportunity to prove that their recent success is not a temporary surge, but the beginning of a sustained presence among Counter-Strike’s elite teams.
