Falcons Sweep Past magic to Set Up PGL Astana 2026 Grand Final Clash With Spirit

After weeks of inconsistency and near-misses in big events, Falcons are now one series away from finally lifting a trophy in 2026. The international squad secured their place in the PGL Astana 2026 grand final after a convincing 2-0 victory over magic in the semi-finals, setting up a blockbuster title clash against Spirit.

Falcons entered the playoffs under growing pressure. Despite assembling one of the most expensive and star-studded lineups in Counter-Strike, the team had continued to fall short in deep tournament runs throughout the past year. The recent addition of Finn Andersen brought renewed leadership to the roster, while the arrival of Ilya Osipov earlier in the season significantly boosted their firepower. HLTV statistics show Falcons had already reached several finals and semi-final appearances during the last 12 months without managing to convert them into titles.

Against magic, however, Falcons looked fully in control from start to finish.

The Kazakhstani-majority roster came into the semi-final as one of the surprise stories of the tournament after an impressive playoff run, but they struggled to keep pace with Falcons’ individual level and structure in the server. The veto resulted in Ancient and Dust2 being played, with Inferno left as the decider that was ultimately unnecessary after Falcons closed the series in two maps.

Ancient began competitively, with magic holding Falcons to a 6-6 first half, but the European side completely shut the door after the break. Falcons dominated the CT side to secure a 13-7 victory and immediately put themselves in position to close the series early.

Dust2 then turned into a showcase for m0NESY.

The Russian AWPer produced one of his strongest performances of the tournament, repeatedly dismantling magic’s defenses with aggressive opening kills and multi-frag rounds. According to HLTV’s match statistics, m0NESY finished the series with 44 kills, a 1.68 rating, and an incredible 31 AWP kills across just two maps. On Dust2 alone, he posted a 1.96 rating while averaging more than 100 ADR.

While m0NESY stole the spotlight, the rest of Falcons also delivered a much more balanced performance than in several of their previous playoff exits. Nikola Kovač contributed heavily with impact rounds and entry pressure, while karrigan’s mid-round calling kept magic from building momentum at any stage of the match. Falcons closed Dust2 13-5 to complete the sweep.

The victory sends Falcons into their biggest series of the season so far, where they will face Spirit in a best-of-five grand final on Sunday.

Spirit booked their place in the final earlier in the day after absolutely dismantling MOUZ in the other semi-final. Led once again by superstar Danil Kryshkovets, the reigning Major champions allowed only five rounds across two maps in a brutally one-sided series.

That result further raises anticipation around the final, as the tournament’s two most individually explosive teams will now battle for the Astana trophy. Falcons are chasing their first championship since building around NiKo and m0NESY, while Spirit are aiming to continue the dominance that has already made them one of the defining teams of the current Counter-Strike era.

For Falcons specifically, the grand final represents an opportunity to finally justify the organization’s aggressive roster investments. The addition of karrigan shortly before the event was viewed by many as a move designed to stabilize the team during high-pressure playoff matches, and Astana has already shown signs of improvement in their structure and composure.

Still, Spirit will enter the final as favorites after their dominant semi-final performance and the continued elite form of donk and sh1ro. Falcons may have looked sharp against magic, but Spirit have appeared nearly untouchable throughout the playoffs.
