ENCE Disbands CS2 Roster: sdy Explains Why the Team Collapsed

Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev has revealed new details about the sudden ENCE CS2 roster disband, saying the organization could no longer afford to maintain the team after disappointing results.

The Ukrainian rifler explained that the project required immediate success but never managed to achieve the necessary results.

“We probably needed to win a couple of thrown BO3s to change everything, but it didn’t happen. The organization lost the ability to sustain us,” sdy said while commenting on the situation.

The statement sheds more light on why ENCE decided to bench its entire Counter-Strike 2 lineup, one of the most surprising roster decisions in the CS2 scene in early 2026.

ENCE Benches Entire Counter-Strike 2 Roster

Earlier, ENCE officially announced that its entire CS2 roster and coaching staff had been benched, with all players available for transfer.

The Finnish esports organization explained that the current esports ecosystem has made it increasingly difficult to maintain an expensive international roster.

Instead, ENCE plans to return to a Finland-focused development model, rebuilding around domestic talent and academy prospects.

According to the organization, the goal is to:

rebuild a Finnish CS roster

focus on long-term talent development

invest in the next generation of Finnish players

ENCE also confirmed that Paavo “podi” Heiskanen was benched because he wants to continue competing in tier-one Counter-Strike rather than join a long-term rebuilding project.

ENCE Results Declined in the CS2 Era

The disband comes after a prolonged competitive decline.

During the Counter-Strike 2 era, ENCE struggled to maintain its former level:

The team attended only one Major in CS2 — PGL Major Copenhagen.

ENCE dropped out of the HLTV top-20 rankings during 2024.

By March 2026, the team had fallen outside the top tier entirely.

This downturn ultimately made the international project difficult to justify financially.

ENCE Attempted a Roster Rebuild in 2026

Interestingly, ENCE had already attempted a roster rebuild earlier in 2026.

In January, the organization signed:

Maciej “F1KU” Miklas

Szymon “kRaSnaL” Mrozek

At the same time, the team parted ways with:

Rigon “rigoN” Gashi

Ville “myltsi” Vilkman

ENCE management said at the time that 2025 had been a difficult year, but the goal remained to return to Majors and tier-one LAN tournaments.

Coach Niclas “enkay J” Krumhorn added that the new players fit the team both tactically and stylistically.

However, the roster changes failed to deliver a rapid turnaround.

Earlier Signs of Instability

The ENCE roster had been unstable for months before the final decision.

In July 2025, the organization promoted academy player myltsi to the main roster after the departure of xKacpersky, hoping fresh talent could revive the lineup.

Later that year, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander stepped away from playing and transitioned into a coaching role, marking another major structural change inside the team.

Despite these adjustments, ENCE still struggled to climb the rankings.

sdy Previously Criticized the Current CS2 Ecosystem

sdy had already voiced concerns about the competitive environment before the roster collapsed.

In a late-2025 interview, he described the modern Counter-Strike circuit as extremely demanding, with teams forced to constantly compete for ranking points.

“Counter-Strike moves at a very fast pace. You constantly need results to stay relevant.”

The player also noted that teams often face a non-stop tournament grind, which can become exhausting for organizations outside the top tier.

What’s Next for sdy and ENCE?

For sdy, the disband means he is now looking for a new team after nearly two years with ENCE.

The Ukrainian player joined the organization in 2024 after leaving Monte, calling ENCE at the time “the best opportunity” to continue his career at the highest level.

Meanwhile, ENCE is preparing for a complete reset of its Counter-Strike division, with a renewed focus on Finnish talent and long-term development.

Whether the historic organization can return to the top of Counter-Strike remains one of the biggest questions in the CS2 competitive scene in 2026.
