BetBoom’s IEM Cologne Major lineup remains unresolved as visa uncertainty continues
BetBoom Team have still not made a final decision on the lineup they will field at the IEM Cologne Major 2026, with CEO Artem “Pioneer” Saveliev confirming that the issue will remain open until every player receives the required visas. The organization has already registered both Daniil “d1Ledez” Kustov and Virtus.pro loanee Timur “FL4MUS” Marev for the Major, but the final five-man roster is still dependent on travel documents.
According to Saveliev, BetBoom submitted visa applications shortly after the Major ranking cutoff and expects updates soon, but the club is avoiding firm predictions. He stressed that visa procedures remain a serious obstacle for CIS teams, making it impossible to guarantee the final Cologne roster in advance.
The situation is complicated by BetBoom’s recent roster changes. Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko has replaced Artem “ArtFr0st” Kharitonov for the season, while d1Ledez officially returned to the starting lineup earlier in April. BetBoom explained at the time that ArtFr0st was moved to the bench because of the team’s “complicated visa situation,” including difficulties connected to obtaining the documents needed for upcoming international events.
FL4MUS has already played an important role for BetBoom during their Major-qualifying campaign. He and zorte stood in during three European LAN appearances, helping the team secure results that ultimately contributed to their IEM Cologne Major qualification. HLTV previously reported that BetBoom’s official Cologne registration includes FL4MUS and zorte, while tournament rules leave the team with limited flexibility because only one substitution is available.
For IEM Atlanta, BetBoom will use FL4MUS instead of d1Ledez, mainly because FL4MUS already has a valid U.S. visa. The $1 million Atlanta event is scheduled for May 11–17, and HLTV reported that FL4MUS’ loan from Virtus.pro will continue for that tournament after he had already replaced d1Ledez during BetBoom’s previous qualifying run.
d1Ledez had missed BetBoom’s three European LAN events because of visa issues, but the organization later said he remained involved in practice, reviews and team work while absent from official matches. BetBoom also stated that it was in productive talks with Virtus.pro over extending FL4MUS’ loan for Atlanta and potentially Cologne, though not as a permanent transfer.
The uncertainty around BetBoom’s roster was already visible when ESL revealed the IEM Cologne Major rosters. At that point, BetBoom told HLTV that it could not share details yet and had to wait for official announcements. HLTV noted that the team had qualified with zorte and FL4MUS as stand-ins, while d1Ledez’s availability remained tied to his visa status.
BetBoom’s qualification itself came after a hectic final stretch before the invite deadline. HLTV reported that the Major invites were shaped by late LAN results shortly before the April 6 cutoff, with several teams fighting for VRS points in the final weeks. BetBoom’s successful run with stand-ins became especially significant because those results helped the team secure its place at the German Major.
The Cologne Major will be one of the most important CS2 events of the year. ESL’s event page lists IEM Cologne Major 2026 as a 32-team EPT Championship with a $1,250,000 prize pool, hosted in Cologne, a venue long branded as the “Cathedral of Counter-Strike.”
BetBoom also have recent history with Cologne-related visa problems. In 2024, the team had to withdraw from IEM Cologne due to visa issues and were replaced by 3DMAX. At the time, Heroic AWPer Abdul “degster” Gasanov said he was facing a similar problem with the same country of application.
For now, BetBoom’s confirmed active core includes Boombl4, S1ren, Magnojez, zorte and d1Ledez, while FL4MUS remains a key contingency option because of both his recent performances with the team and his visa situation. The final Cologne decision, however, is not expected to be locked until the organization has clarity on every player’s travel status.
