Astralis Eliminate SINNERS at IEM Atlanta 2026 Before Playoff Dream Ends Against GamerLegion
Astralis kept their IEM Atlanta 2026 campaign alive with a crucial 2-0 victory over SINNERS in the Group B lower bracket, eliminating the Czech-led squad from the tournament before eventually falling short of the playoffs against GamerLegion.
The Danish organization secured tight wins on Mirage (13-11) and Inferno (13-8), surviving elimination pressure in one of the most important matches of their season. The result briefly revived Astralis’ hopes of reaching the IEM Atlanta playoffs after an inconsistent group-stage performance.
Astralis Defeat SINNERS in Elimination Match
Astralis entered the series needing a win after dropping to the lower bracket earlier in the event. Despite shaky form on Mirage, the team managed to edge out SINNERS in a closely contested opener before looking far more composed on Inferno.
One of the biggest storylines of the series was the recovery performance from Swedish AWPer Love “phzy” Smidebrant. After recording only four kills on Mirage, phzy bounced back dramatically on Inferno with a 1.90 rating to help Astralis close out the series.
Meanwhile, Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas delivered Astralis’ most consistent performance overall, finishing the match with 36 kills and a 1.32 rating across two maps.
For SINNERS, Jordan “stressarN” Manevski fought to keep the team alive and ended the series with 35 kills, but the European mix could not force a decider map.
The elimination marked another disappointing early exit for SINNERS at a top-tier Counter-Strike event.
Astralis’ Difficult Road at IEM Atlanta 2026
Astralis started IEM Atlanta strongly with a convincing 2-0 victory over Liquid. Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard was one of the standout players in that opening series, posting a dominant 1.68 rating.
However, momentum quickly disappeared when Astralis suffered a heavy defeat against Legacy. The Brazilian squad controlled both Dust2 and Nuke, sending Astralis into the lower bracket and putting immediate pressure on the Danish roster.
GamerLegion End Astralis’ Playoff Hopes
After eliminating SINNERS, Astralis advanced to a decisive lower bracket clash against GamerLegion with a playoff spot on the line.
GamerLegion arrived in strong form after defeating Liquid 2-0. Following that series, Liquid captain Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek admitted his team struggled with slow starts throughout the event.
“We’re starting the game slow every time, and overall we didn’t perform like we should.”
Siuhy also stated that Liquid had the tools to succeed on the T side but failed to execute consistently under pressure.
Astralis were unable to stop GamerLegion’s momentum. The European squad dominated Mirage 13-3 before closing Ancient 13-8 to eliminate Astralis from IEM Atlanta 2026.
Oldřich “PR” Nový starred in the playoff-deciding series with an outstanding 1.75 rating.
