Adam “friberg” Friberg Appointed Head Coach of Johnny Speeds Ahead of CS2 2026 Season
Adam Friberg has officially been named the new head coach of Johnny Speeds, marking a significant step in the Swedish team’s rebuild heading into the 2026 Counter-Strike 2 season.
The announcement was first reported by HLTV, confirming that the former Major champion is transitioning into his first full-time coaching role after retiring from professional play at the end of 2024.
Friberg Begins Coaching Career After Legendary Playing Run
Friberg, best known for his time with Ninjas in Pyjamas and his Major-winning career, had previously stated his intention to move into coaching once his playing days were over. Johnny Speeds now become the first organization to entrust him with a head coach position.
“Super excited to begin a new journey as a coach. I'm confident in myself and the team, but also humble to the work that needs to be done,”
friberg said in a statement published via social media and cited by HLTV.
His appointment comes after Johnny Speeds parted ways with former coach André “BARBARR” Möller in late November, leaving the team without a strategic leader during the offseason.
Johnny Speeds Finalize Roster and Coaching Staff
At the time of friberg’s arrival, Johnny Speeds were ranked outside the top 60 in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), with the organization openly reshaping its roster and staff to improve competitiveness in European CS2.
Current Johnny Speeds CS2 Roster
William “draken” Sundin
Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson
Anton “Sapec” Palmgren
Ludvig “HEAP” Alonso
Jacob “jocab” Nerheden
Coach: Adam “friberg” Friberg
The addition of jocab followed the benching of Leo “Svedjehed” Svedjehed, signaling a clear reset before the new competitive cycle.
Upcoming Tournaments and Competitive Goals
With friberg on board, Johnny Speeds are set to compete in multiple early-season events, including:
European Pro League Series 4
PLAYR Masters Season 1 (Malmö, Sweden)
These tournaments will serve as the first real test of friberg’s tactical vision and leadership from the sidelines.
Context: Johnny Speeds’ Long-Term Project
Earlier in 2025, the organization emphasized its ambition to build a sustainable Swedish contender. Team co-founder and player draken previously described Johnny Speeds as a long-term project aimed at creating its own identity within Scandinavian CS2, supported by new investors and infrastructure.
Friberg’s appointment aligns with that vision, bringing experience, credibility, and Major-winning pedigree to a developing roster.
