100 Thieves Close to Signing Swedish Rising Star poiii in Continued CS2 Roster Build-Up

100 Thieves are reportedly close to adding promising Swedish talent Alex “poiii” Nyholm Sundgren to their Counter-Strike 2 roster, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation.

The 19-year-old Swedish rifler, currently starring for Alliance, is expected to become the third confirmed player for the 100 Thieves CS2 lineup. This comes after the organisation already unveiled Norwegian veteran Håvard “rain” Nygaard and recently appointed former Astralis IGL Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander as head coach.

poiii has emerged as one of Sweden’s top young prospects since joining EYEBALLERS in mid-2024. His development has been highlighted by appearances in HLTV’s prospect reports, where he climbed into the top 40, signalling increasing recognition in the competitive scene. In Svenska Cupen 2025, poiii demonstrated strong form by posting an average 1.75 rating in Alliance’s grand-final victory over Metizport in Stockholm.

Interest in poiii indicates a potential shift in 100 Thieves’ roster strategy. Earlier plans had suggested the organisation might pursue an established core unit to secure an initial Valve Regional Standings (VRS) rank and early tournament invites. There were even pre-Major discussions with GamerLegion about a possible team core acquisition. However, sources indicate that 100 Thieves are now likely to assemble a roster by recruiting individual players from different teams — a method similar to how Ninjas in Pyjamas restructured at the end of 2024.

This approach would see 100 Thieves build around cornerstone pieces like rain while adding emerging talents such as poiii, instead of importing an intact unit from another organisation.

The North American organisation recently solidified its coaching foundation by naming gla1ve — a four-time Major champion with Astralis — as head coach. His experience alongside rain and the prospective addition of poiii creates an interesting mix of veteran leadership and youthful potential for the team’s debut competitive cycle.

100 Thieves have not yet officially announced poiii’s signing, and neither statement nor confirmation has been issued by the organisation at the time of reporting.
