The MongolZ were originally founded in 2015, quickly gaining recognition as one of Mongolia’s first professional Counter-Strike teams to compete internationally. The team’s early roster made headlines when they qualified for IEM Katowice 2016, one of the biggest tournaments of the year — marking a historic moment for Mongolian esports. Although relatively unknown at the time, The MongolZ impressed fans with their aggressive playstyle and raw aim, showcasing the potential of the Mongolian Counter-Strike scene.

Following their initial success, the team underwent several roster changes but continued to represent Mongolia at various regional and international tournaments. During this period, The MongolZ helped lay the foundation for a competitive esports culture in their country, inspiring a new generation of players to pursue professional gaming careers.

Return to Prominence and Modern Era

After a brief period of inactivity, The MongolZ re-emerged in 2022 with a new roster composed of the region’s top young talent, including Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren, Sodbayar “Techno4K” Munkhbold, Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch, Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold, and Ayush “mzinho” Batbold. Under the leadership of bLitz, the team began to dominate regional competitions, establishing themselves as the best team in Asia.

Their breakout moment came in 2023, when The MongolZ qualified for several international events, consistently challenging Tier 1 opponents and earning respect from the global Counter-Strike community. Their mix of youthful energy, mechanical precision, and coordinated aggression made them a dangerous and unpredictable opponent, capable of upsetting even the most experienced teams.

In 2024, The MongolZ reached new heights by qualifying for the PGL Major Copenhagen, becoming the first Mongolian team to reach the Major stage in the Counter-Strike 2 era.
