About
FURIA Esports is a professional Brazilian Counter-Strike organization founded in 2017. Based in São Paulo, Brazil, FURIA has grown into one of the most successful and recognizable South American esports teams in the world. Known for their aggressive, high-tempo playstyle and passionate approach to competition, FURIA has been a dominant force in both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), consistently representing Brazil on the international stage.
Origins and Rise to Prominence
FURIA was founded by Jaime Pádua, André Akkari, and Alexandre “Gaules” Borba, with the goal of creating a world-class Brazilian esports organization capable of rivaling the top European and North American teams. The organization’s entry into Counter-Strike came in 2018, when they signed a young, talented Brazilian roster featuring Yuri “yuurih” Santos, Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato, and Andrei “arT” Piovezan, players who would become the core of FURIA’s identity for years to come.
The team quickly made a name for itself through its fearless and unorthodox playstyle — marked by constant aggression, unpredictable strategies, and lightning-fast rounds. Under the leadership of in-game leader arT, FURIA became one of the most entertaining and difficult teams to face, capable of overwhelming even the best opponents with relentless pressure and innovative tactics.
Their international breakthrough came in 2019, when FURIA impressed at several Tier 1 events, including DreamHack Open Rio, where they took home their first major title. Later that year, strong showings at ECS Season 7 Finals and EPL Season 9 established them as one of the top teams in the world.
Continued Success and International Recognition
In 2020, FURIA solidified its place among the elite teams of CS:GO. They achieved multiple victories in North American competitions, such as ESL Pro League Season 12: North America, and maintained consistent top-tier finishes in global tournaments. Their aggressive style, powered by the explosive performances of KSCERATO and yuurih, became their trademark.
FURIA’s first CS:GO Major playoff appearance came at the PGL Antwerp Major 2022, followed by a historic run at the IEM Rio Major 2022, held in their home country. In front of a roaring Brazilian crowd, FURIA reached the semi-finals, delivering one of the most emotional and memorable moments in Brazilian Counter-Strike history.
Transitioning into Counter-Strike 2, FURIA maintained its reputation as one of the strongest teams in the Americas. With continued roster evolution — including players like Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and Andrei “arT” Piovezan — the organization has stayed true to its mission of representing Brazilian excellence while competing at the highest level of global Counter-Strike.
Playstyle and Identity
FURIA’s playstyle has always been defined by controlled chaos — a balance between calculated aggression and innovative tactics. The team is known for pushing boundaries, experimenting with new strategies, and maintaining high levels of communication and teamwork. Their ability to disrupt opponents’ expectations and dictate the pace of the game has made them a formidable opponent across every version of Counter-Strike.
