Biography
Helvijs “broky” Smits (born February 14, 2001, Latvia) is a professional Counter-Strike 2 AWPer for FaZe Clan and one of the most impactful snipers in modern Counter-Strike. Known for his clutch ability, calm under pressure, and versatile AWPing style, broky has become a cornerstone of FaZe’s international roster, helping the team secure multiple S-tier trophies, a CS:GO Major title, and an Intel Grand Slam.
Broky’s professional career began in the Baltic scene, where he competed for smaller teams and built his reputation in online leagues and regional tournaments. His big break came in September 2019, when FaZe Clan signed him as an unproven 18-year-old to replace veteran GuardiaN. Initially viewed as a long-term project, broky quickly adapted to the tier-one environment, impressing with his composure, clutch potential, and ability to win high-pressure rounds against the world’s best.
From 2020 onward, broky transitioned from a promising rookie to one of the most reliable AWPers in the game. His style blends calculated aggression with excellent positioning, allowing him to both create openings and close out rounds. His exceptional 1vX record has earned him the reputation as one of the best clutch players in Counter-Strike.
The peak of broky’s career to date came in 2022, a historic year for FaZe Clan. The team won IEM Katowice 2022, ESL Pro League Season 15, IEM Cologne 2022, and most notably, the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, becoming the first international roster to win a CS:GO Major. At just 21 years old, broky was a key factor in these victories, delivering crucial multi-kill rounds and consistent AWP impact in grand finals. His individual excellence was recognized when he was named MVP of IEM Katowice 2022 by HLTV.
In March 2023, broky and FaZe completed the Intel Grand Slam Season 4, claiming the $1,000,000 prize with victory at ESL Pro League Season 17. His adaptability carried into the CS2 era, starting with a win at IEM Sydney 2023, the first major LAN tournament of the new game. In 2024, FaZe reached an unprecedented streak of consecutive grand finals, including IEM Katowice 2024 (runner-up), PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 (runner-up), IEM Chengdu 2024 (champion), and Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 (runner-up).
Broky’s ability to stay composed in the most intense moments, combined with years of tier-one experience despite his young age, makes him one of the most feared and respected AWPers in the world. His career continues to be defined by consistency, clutch mastery, and championship pedigree.
