w0nderful Claims First Career HLTV MVP After NAVI Win IEM Atlanta 2026

Natus Vincere star Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov secured the first HLTV MVP medal of his career after leading NAVI to victory at IEM Atlanta 2026, marking a major milestone for the Ukrainian AWPer.

NAVI defeated GamerLegion 3-0 in the grand final to secure their second trophy of 2026 and continue their strong Counter-Strike 2 season. The championship followed NAVI’s ESL Pro League Season 23 victory earlier this year and further strengthened the team’s position among the world’s elite CS2 rosters.

According to HLTV, w0nderful finished the tournament with a 1.31 rating across 16 maps and dominated several statistical categories, including total kills and K-D difference. His playoff performances ultimately earned him MVP honors.

w0nderful Finally Secures His First MVP Award

The 20-year-old sniper admitted after the final that the award carried emotional significance because he had narrowly missed MVP recognition multiple times in previous tournaments.

“The feeling is very good, because there were a lot of chances for me to get it, but every time I was playing bad in finals or we are losing,” w0nderful told HLTV after the victory.

He also acknowledged that watching teammates receive MVP medals before him was difficult at times.

“It’s a little bit disappointing, but I knew one day I would get it.”

The MVP medal adds another achievement to w0nderful’s rise since joining NAVI and reinforces his growing reputation as one of the best AWPers in Counter-Strike 2.

NAVI End Vitality’s Dominance in Key Playoff Victory

One of the defining moments of NAVI’s IEM Atlanta run came in the quarter-final against Team Vitality.

NAVI defeated the world No. 1 team 2-1 and snapped a nine-series losing streak against Vitality. The result also ended Vitality’s remarkable streak of 21 consecutive top-four finishes at major events.

w0nderful delivered one of the best series of his career during the match, posting a 1.45 rating overall and nearly flawless performances on NAVI’s map wins.

After the victory, NAVI captain Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen said the breakthrough against Vitality was a mental victory as much as a tactical one.

“We worked hard for this moment,” Aleksib explained, adding that NAVI “deserved it today for sure.”

NAVI coach Andrij “B1ad3” Horodensjkyj also emphasized the importance of finally overcoming Vitality after multiple close losses throughout the season.

“Beating Vitality in any condition benefits us hugely,” B1ad3 said following the playoff win.

GamerLegion Fall Short in IEM Atlanta Grand Final

Despite entering the final with momentum, GamerLegion were unable to stop NAVI’s dominant form in the best-of-five series.

Before the match, GamerLegion player Sebastian “Tauson” Tauson Lindelof said he specifically wanted to face NAVI in the final because defeating them would make the title “more deserved.”

Instead, NAVI controlled the series from start to finish, winning Mirage, Anubis, and Nuke to close out the event without dropping a map in the grand final.

w0nderful once again led the scoreboard, finishing the final with a 1.44 rating and a 60-34 K-D as NAVI secured the IEM Atlanta trophy.

NAVI Build Momentum Ahead of the CS2 Major

The IEM Atlanta victory could become a turning point for NAVI heading into the next Counter-Strike 2 Major cycle.

After inconsistent performances earlier in 2026, NAVI now appear to have regained confidence at the perfect time. w0nderful himself admitted that the beginning of the year was difficult despite his strong form at the Budapest Major.

“I didn’t change anything. Now it’s finally, I just came back,” he said after receiving the MVP award.

When asked about NAVI’s chances at the upcoming IEM Cologne Major, the Ukrainian AWPer gave a confident response:

“I think it’s high chances.”

With their biggest rivals finally defeated and their AWPer playing at MVP level, NAVI may once again be emerging as one of the favorites in competitive Counter-Strike 2.
