Vitality Survive Lower Bracket to Reach IEM Atlanta 2026 Playoffs
Team Vitality kept their IEM Atlanta 2026 campaign alive after defeating B8 2-0 in the Group A lower-bracket final, securing the final playoff spot from the group.
The victory came after Vitality suffered a surprising earlier defeat against BetBoom Team, forcing the world’s No. 1-ranked squad into an elimination path. Despite the setback, Vitality recovered convincingly with dominant wins on Mirage (13-5) and Dust2 (13-8).
According to HLTV.org, Shahar 'flameZ' Shushan led Vitality with 36 kills, 89.7 ADR, and a 1.57 rating across the series. Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut followed with a 1.36 rating, while Robin 'ropz' Kool continued his consistent form with a 1.25 rating.
B8 Eliminated Despite Strong Showing From s1zzi
B8 struggled to match Vitality’s firepower, although 16-year-old Dmytro 's1zzi' Svidlov impressed again with a 1.24 rating in the losing effort.
The Ukrainian squad entered the match after eliminating FUT Esports in the lower bracket, but they were unable to contain Vitality’s aggressive pace and superior mid-round coordination.
Vitality took control of Mirage early with a dominant CT side before comfortably closing the map. Dust2 proved more competitive, but crucial multikill rounds from ZywOo and flameZ helped Vitality regain momentum late in the game.
ropz: “IEM Atlanta Is Not a Priority Event”
Following the victory, ropz admitted the team felt relieved after surviving the lower bracket.
In an interview published by HLTV.org, the Estonian star revealed that Vitality arrived with limited preparation.
“We’re definitely a bit rusty,” ropz said.
He also explained that the tournament was not one of the team’s primary goals this season:
“IEM Atlanta is not a priority event for us, but we don’t want to go home with regrets.”
ropz additionally dismissed any suggestion of complacency despite Vitality’s recent dominance in international Counter-Strike.
BetBoom Secure Direct Semi-Final Berth
While Vitality fought through the lower bracket, BetBoom earned a direct semi-final seed after defeating paiN Gaming 2-1.
BetBoom opened the series with a narrow 13-11 victory on Dust2 before paiN answered with a strong 13-6 win on Nuke. However, the deciding map Anubis turned into a one-sided affair, as BetBoom stormed to an 11-1 T-side lead and eventually closed the map 13-5.
Timur 'FL4MUS' Marev finished as BetBoom’s highest-rated player with a 1.40 series rating, while Aleksandr 'zorte' Zagodyrenko delivered a standout performance on Dust2 with a 1.71 rating.
The result guaranteed BetBoom a direct place in the semi-finals and reinforced the team’s growing reputation as one of the biggest dark horses of the tournament.
