torzsi aims for Major glory after flawless debut — “I’m just building up for that”

MOUZ’s young Hungarian AWPer Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás made a statement in his first match of ESL Pro League Season 22, posting a dominant 17-0 K/D before dying in the final pistol round. After a convincing 2-0 opening over GamerLegion, he told HLTV that his eyes are set on the Major: “I want to perform for the Major, and I’m just building up for that.”

Torzsi also revealed the team’s prep regimen in a lengthy break between official events, explaining how MOUZ used the downtime to refine strategic thinking, review past mistakes, and optimize their approach to advantageous situations.

The match & performance breakdown

Game 1: Overpass

MOUZ started strong, though the final scoreline was 13-4. Torzsi downplayed the sweep, saying the team took their foot off the gas a bit after securing the lead and that communication drifted in a few rounds. Still, their CT side was solid, and MOUZ never lost control.

Game 2: Nuke

This was torzsi’s standout showcase. MOUZ posted a 12-0 T side half, with torzsi alive throughout. His 17-0 stat line before the final round underscores how locked in he was. He attributed much of it to consistency in practice and a sharpened focus on decision-making in critical rounds.

He called the match a boost in confidence: “For me individually, it means a lot … I’ve been working a lot, grinding Counter-Strike … putting a lot of hours into it because I want to perform now.”

Context: torzsi, career, and expectations

  • Age & background: Torzsi is 23 years old, from Hungary, and competes as MOUZ’s primary sniper.

  • Player stats: Over recent months, he’s been registering a rating of 1.13 across dozens of maps, putting him among MOUZ’s most consistent performers.

  • Previous mindset: In an earlier interview, torzsi noted that MOUZ’s pre-Major practice camp had been rough initially, forcing them to adjust and raise their energy and focus going into major play.

  • Team standing & ambitions: MOUZ is no stranger to high expectations. Their goal as always is deep runs in Pro League, strong showings in Majors, and consistency across formats. Torzsi’s push to “perform at the Major” aligns with that culture.

What this means & what to watch

For torzsi

  • He has set a high bar for himself: to not just be present, but impactful on the biggest stages.

  • That 17-0 start creates hype — but sustaining that level across a full season (including deeper playoffs and high-tier events) is the real challenge.

  • Maintaining that performance consistency under pressure (e.g. against top teams, in playoff matches, under punishing travel) will define how he’s remembered.

For MOUZ

  • The team’s strategic evolution during the downtime seems to have paid off. The emphasis on thinking, advantage exploitation, and decision timing may prove differentiators in longer series.

  • Torzsi’s rise enriches their sniper role flexibility, giving them options in map vetoes and tactical depth.

  • If MOUZ can maintain momentum from matches like this, they’ll be more dangerous in pools where they may have been considered underdogs.

Risks & pressure

  • Expectations now mount. A single hot match elevates narratives; the next down round will test character.

  • Other teams will now prepare specifically for torzsi — counter-AWP setups, early aggression, baiting plays. He’ll need to adapt.

  • Across Pro League, many teams are similarly tuning their strategies — MOUZ must keep evolving rather than resting on strong starts.
