tomaszin: BESTIA approaching the game differently after roster overhaul
Argentinian rifler Tomas 'tomaszin' Corna believes that recent roster and leadership changes have significantly altered the way BESTIA approach the game, giving players more freedom and allowing the team to develop a new identity.
The comments came after BESTIA’s campaign at HyperX Roman Imperium Cup VI, where the team showed signs of improvement despite falling short of the playoffs. Their run ended in the group stage following a tight race for qualification and a painful overtime defeat to Gaimin Gladiators, a match in which BESTIA squandered several opportunities to close out the map.
Painful loss but promising signs
BESTIA had the match under control at several points, but after failing to convert multiple closing rounds, momentum shifted toward Gaimin Gladiators. According to tomaszin, the collapse was partly due to poor early-round decisions once pressure began to build, allowing the experienced opposition to take advantage.
Despite the loss, the Argentinian player emphasized that the team remains optimistic. BESTIA had only recently started practicing with their new lineup, and the roster had just two days of practice before the event. Given those circumstances, tomaszin said the squad still managed to compete closely with established opponents and showed encouraging progress.
Roster overhaul changes the team’s philosophy
BESTIA recently underwent a series of structural changes that reshaped the way the team plays. The organization reinstated timo, transitioned buda into the in-game leader role, and brought shaRpy in as coach, replacing previous leadership figures and shifting the strategic direction of the squad.
According to tomaszin, these changes have already begun to influence the team’s style:
-
The previous system relied heavily on rigid strategies and predefined defaults.
-
The new leadership encourages players to make decisions independently and take calculated risks.
-
The overall structure is designed to unlock the individual strengths of the roster.
For tomaszin in particular, the changes have resulted in a more active role within the team. Instead of following a stricter tactical framework, he now has greater freedom to create plays and impact rounds, something he believes suits his style and could lead to stronger performances over time.
nacho adapting quickly to the lineup
Another key piece of BESTIA’s new lineup is rifler nacho, who joined the roster shortly before the event. Tomaszin praised the newcomer’s individual skill and said he has already contributed several crucial rounds thanks to his firepower.
However, with such a recent addition, the team is still focused on building synergy and aligning their understanding of the game. Tomaszin expressed confidence that with more practice and time together, the lineup could develop into a more dangerous contender.
Competing against top teams while building identity
At Roman Imperium Cup VI, BESTIA faced opponents such as Team Liquid, testing the lineup against experienced international competition. Tomaszin explained that while these matches are valuable, the team’s primary focus remains internal development.
Rather than worrying about the prestige of their opponents, BESTIA aim to refine their own system, improve round by round, and build confidence in their approach. According to the Argentinian rifler, if the team executes its ideas correctly, it can compete with anyone.
Argentine Counter-Strike and the Buenos Aires Major
Looking beyond the tournament, tomaszin also reflected on the growth of the Argentine Counter-Strike scene. While acknowledging that Brazil’s larger population makes it difficult to match the scale of Brazilian esports, he believes teams such as BESTIA and 9z are helping expand the region’s presence internationally.
The upcoming FiREMAJOR Buenos Aires 2027 could further boost interest in Counter-Strike within Argentina, potentially inspiring new players and fans. For tomaszin and his teammates, strong results at international tournaments are the best way to promote the national scene and bring more attention to Argentine CS.
