tikuak returns to Chinggis Warriors after short The MongolZ stint

Zolbayar "tikuak" Chimedtseren has returned to Chinggis Warriors just over two months after leaving the organization for The MongolZ, bringing one of Mongolia's most highly rated young players back to the lineup where he first established himself at senior level.

The move was confirmed on September 27, less than two weeks after The MongolZ moved tikuak and Dugarsuren "DarkMeister" Ireedui to the bench. The 17-year-old's first spell with Mongolia's leading team ultimately lasted only 21 maps, during which he averaged a 0.91 HLTV Rating 3.0.

His return gives Chinggis Warriors a familiar source of firepower. Before joining The MongolZ in July, tikuak had averaged a 1.15 rating during his previous Chinggis Warriors tenure and had repeatedly appeared in HLTV's Prospects rankings.

Back where his rise began

tikuak's return effectively reverses one of Mongolia's most significant summer roster moves.

He initially joined Chinggis Warriors from The MongolZ Academy in October 2025 and developed into the team's leading young prospect. His performances were strong enough to earn regular recognition in HLTV's Prospects rankings and eventually a promotion to The MongolZ's main roster.

The statistical progression before that promotion was particularly notable.

In ESL Challenger League Season 51 Asia-Pacific Cup 3, tikuak recorded a 1.19 rating across 14 maps as Chinggis Warriors finished second. He followed that with an even stronger Cup 4 campaign, averaging 1.24 over 12 maps during a third-place run. At Hero Esports Asian Champions League 2026, he posted a 1.20 rating across nine maps.

Those performances helped establish him as considerably more than an academy prospect. By the time The MongolZ came calling, tikuak had already demonstrated that he could consistently produce strong numbers against regional opposition.

His previous Chinggis Warriors spell also included LAN victories at MESA League Season 5 and ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Asia Open, according to HLTV.

The step up to The MongolZ proved difficult

The MongolZ signed tikuak alongside DarkMeister on July 12 as part of a substantial mid-season reshuffle. tikuak arrived after Ayush "mzinho" Batbold's departure to BC.Game, while DarkMeister was promoted from The MongolZ Academy after cobrazera was moved out of the starting five.

For tikuak, the transfer represented an immediate jump in opposition quality and expectations.

The transition did not produce the same individual numbers he had recorded with Chinggis Warriors.

Across 21 maps for The MongolZ, tikuak averaged a 0.91 Rating 3.0. His current three-month HLTV profile also places his firepower score at 9/100, although his entrying score stands much higher at 88/100 — an indication of how frequently he was involved in aggressive opening responsibilities despite struggling to convert those situations into consistent overall production.

The contrast with his previous regional form was substantial:

The numbers should also be viewed in context. His move placed a 17-year-old prospect directly into a team competing against substantially stronger international opposition rather than the predominantly Asian field he had faced with Chinggis Warriors.

The MongolZ themselves were going through an unstable period.

They finished 9th–16th at Esports World Cup 2026 before suffering a last-place exit from FISSURE Playground 3. Their FISSURE run was further complicated by another lineup adjustment, with cobrazera returning to the starting five in place of Techno.

The MongolZ eventually benched both tikuak and DarkMeister on September 15. The pair had played nine matches for the organization and averaged ratings of 0.91 and 0.92 respectively.

Twelve days later, tikuak's return to Chinggis Warriors was confirmed.

Why the return matters for Chinggis Warriors

For Chinggis Warriors, the move brings back a player whose individual ceiling in their system has already been demonstrated.

The current lineup features hasteka, sk0R, ROUX, yAmi and tikuak, with Munkh-ochir "Redka" Myagmarsuren remaining behind the team as coach. HLTV currently ranks Chinggis Warriors No. 160 in the world, while their Valve ranking is No. 181.

The lineup is:

There is already considerable evidence that tikuak can produce in this environment.

His 1.15 average during his previous Chinggis Warriors tenure makes the reunion less speculative than a conventional prospect signing. The question is not whether he can perform for the team at a regional level — he already has — but whether his exposure to stronger international competition can eventually help him develop beyond the level he showed before leaving.

There is another significant source of firepower already in the lineup.

sk0R has produced a 1.21 Rating 3.0 across 37 maps during his current Chinggis Warriors spell, according to HLTV. ROUX and yAmi sit at 1.05 and 1.06 respectively over their current team periods.

That creates the possibility of a lineup with considerably more individual output than one built around a single standout player.

It would be premature, however, to describe tikuak's return as an automatic upgrade. His previous numbers show that he was highly effective within Chinggis Warriors' regional environment, while his two months with The MongolZ demonstrated how large the jump remains between strong Asian competition and consistent performance against international opposition.

His development after that experience will therefore be one of the most important parts of the reunion.

Chinggis Warriors have remained competitive without him

Chinggis Warriors did not collapse after tikuak left in July.

The team reached the deciding stages of the FISSURE Playground 3 Asia Closed Qualifier, putting together wins over Just Swing, The Huns, NEXVOID and Rare Atom before losing 2-0 to 5star in the qualification match.

Their results around that period also underline the inconsistency the returning youngster will be tasked with helping address.

Chinggis Warriors suffered losses to NEXVOID and Just Swing during ESL Challenger League Season 52 Asia-Pacific Cup 1 and were eliminated by NEXVOID from the IEM Beijing Asia Open Qualifier. They also lost to The Huns and Vitalem Aerem during the GLuck Moscow Cyber Games Asia qualifier.

The FISSURE qualifying run nevertheless showed that the team remained capable of challenging some of the stronger sides in the Asian circuit without its former star.

Adding tikuak back into a lineup that now also contains sk0R gives Chinggis Warriors another proven regional performer rather than requiring them to develop an entirely new player.

A dramatically different environment from July

The wider context makes tikuak's return unusual.

When he departed Chinggis Warriors on July 12, the move appeared to complete his progression through Mongolia's competitive hierarchy: The MongolZ Academy, Chinggis Warriors, then The MongolZ's senior roster.

Just 77 days later, he is back with Chinggis Warriors.

The situation he returns to is also different from the one he left.

sk0R joined Chinggis Warriors on July 22, ten days after tikuak's departure, and has since become one of the team's strongest statistical performers. That means the 17-year-old is joining a lineup with another high-output rifler who was not part of his previous Chinggis Warriors configuration.

For a team currently sitting outside the upper reaches of the global rankings, combining those two players provides an obvious foundation for another push through the Asian circuit.

Whether that translates into international progress is the larger question.

The MongolZ rebuild continues without him

The transfer also leaves The MongolZ in an unusually incomplete position.

Following tikuak's departure, HLTV lists only bLitz, Techno and 910 as active players. DarkMeister and cobrazera remain benched, while maaRaa continues as coach.

That means tikuak's return is more than a temporary reassignment within Mongolia's top teams: his status has shifted back to an active Chinggis Warriors player while The MongolZ continue rebuilding their starting five.

For Chinggis Warriors, the calculation is much simpler.

They have recovered a 17-year-old player who averaged 1.15 during his previous stint, gained two months of experience against stronger international opposition, and already understands the organization and several of the players around him.

The next challenge is turning that familiarity into results.

HLTV currently lists no upcoming match for Chinggis Warriors, meaning tikuak's second debut has yet to receive a confirmed date or opponent.
