The MongolZ Secure World No. 1 Spot in HLTV Rankings for the First Time

For the very first time in their history, The MongolZ have claimed the No. 1 position in the HLTV world rankings.
This milestone caps off a remarkable rise for the Mongolian squad, who have made history not only for their own program but for Asian Counter-Strike as a whole.

A Meteoric Rise to the Top

The path to this achievement has been marked with several landmark moments:

  • Earlier, The MongolZ released a mini-documentary detailing their organizational journey and how they reached this pinnacle.

  • Their ascent has been underpinned by strong performances: after finishing as runner-up at the Austin Major, they captured their first big title by winning the Esports World Cup in August.

  • At the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, The MongolZ became the first Asian team to ever reach the playoffs, defeating top-tier teams along the way in the elimination stage (including G2, MOUZ, Heroic).

  • They also secured the championship at the Thunderpick World Championship in November 2024, adding further weight to their international reputation.

Because of these achievements, The MongolZ gradually climbed the HLTV rankings and broke into Valve’s top 5.

Context & Others Along the Way

Their accomplishment follows a pattern seen before in the competitive scene. For example, MOUZ had secured the top spot in HLTV rankings for the first time in May 2024.
Likewise, Spirit had risen to No. 1 previously after a strong championship run.

The MongolZ’s achievement is not just a personal milestone — it represents a breakthrough for Mongolian esports and Asian representation on the global Counter-Strike stage.
