Stadodo Headlines New Rebels Roster: Spanish Org Goes Portuguese with Full Refresh

The Spanish organization Rebels have officially unveiled a new all-Portuguese CS2 lineup, marking their return to competitive Counter-Strike after parting ways with their Polish squad earlier in 2025. At the centre of the rebuild is Renato “stadodo” Gonçalves, whose return to active play is the headline move.

Who’s In — The Roster Breakdown

Rebels’ new core consists of:

  • stadodo (Renato “stadodo” Gonçalves) — formerly of SAW and KOI, known as a sniper with leadership experience. This marks his first presence on a team since his removal from KOI (now Gentle Mates) in July.

  • Filipe “NOPEEJ” Dias — longtime Portuguese player; played alongside stadodo and snapy in FTW during 2023.

  • Diogo “snapy” Rodrigues — previously shared lineup with stadodo and NOPEEJ at FTW, bringing experience and synergy.

  • Diogo “Icarus” Cruz — another ex-Rhyno member, bringing familiarity with NOPEEJ and snapy.

  • Tiago “TMKj” Martins — also part of the later Rhyno core alongside NOPEEJ and snapy.

Their coach will be Rui “vts” Soares, who previously coached with stadodo in SAW during 2022.

What This Means for Rebels

🇵🇹 Portuguese Base

Shifting to an all-Portuguese lineup shows clear intent: Rebels are aiming to build from the domestic talent pool. After having run a Polish roster — since Rebels’ earlier expansion efforts — they’re now embracing Portuguese players, likely in part due to stronger chemistry, communication advantages, and perhaps logistical or strategic ease.

Strategic Continuity & Experience

Bringing in players who already know each other (stadodo, NOPEEJ, snapy, Icarus, TMKj) offers Rebels a head start in terms of team cohesion. Stadodo’s leadership and experience—having been through multiple rosters and with significant time in SAW and KOI—can help stabilize this new lineup. The involvement of coach vts is another signal of keeping a familiar structure in place.

History & Context

Rebels had severed ties with their previous Polish roster earlier in the summer, with that team going on under the name Venom. The split came after roughly a year of cooperation.  Rebels had been in the European CS2 scene under that Polish core, but results and regional alignment may have driven this change.

stadodo (born November 17, 1996) has a long CS career. According to Liquipedia, his roles include AWPer and IGL over different periods, and he has amassed over US$80,000 in winnings across his career.  Other members also have solid resumes in Portuguese teams (e.g. Rhyno, SAW, FTW), giving this roster some battle-tested components.

Potential & Questions Ahead

  • Ranking & VRS Impact: Currently, Rebels don’t have a recent world ranking under the new lineup (and their past core was ranked #25 at one point). Their performance in upcoming qualifiers and LAN/online events will define how fast they can climb.

  • Team Synergy vs. Meta Adaptation: While existing chemistry will help, translating that into consistent performance against high-level European - or global - opposition will test their depth. Map pool, adaptability, and strategic flexibility will be key.

  • Performance Pressure: As stadodo returns from removal at KOI, expectations will likely be high. This roster is under watch: are they building for long-term success or looking for short-term results?
