Round 2 Matchups Locked In at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025

Stage 1 of the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 has advanced into its second round of Swiss-play after a dramatic opening day marked by upsets and technical disruptions. 

Opening Round Mayhem

While the tournament kicked off with high expectations for the big names, the first round quickly revealed its chaos. Significant technical issues — including a two-hour production pause, audio malfunctions and duplicate sound feeds — delayed and distracted proceedings. 
Amid this disruption several favourites succumbed early. Only one major seed managed to advance with a clean slate.

Favourites Survive, Others Fall

The sole major favourite to emerge from Round 1 with a 1-0 record was FaZe, who systematically dispatched Lynn Vision and now sit poised to build momentum. 
In contrast, Legacy’s day ended in disappointment after blowing a 10-4 lead and falling to FlyQuest, relegating them to the 0-1 pool. 
Another significant story: Nick “nitr0” Cannella of NRG will miss the Major due to the impending birth of his child, forcing coach Damian “daps” Steele into active competition as the stand-in. The change is a sizeable blow for NRG and their Stage 1 hopes. 

Round 2 Matchups Set

With the first round behind them, matchups for Round 2 (Swiss Round 2) are now locked in. Highlights include:

• 1-0 pool (teams that are 1-0) will feature the FaZe vs NRG showdown. FaZe look to build on their early success; NRG must overcome the absence of nitr0 if they are to avoid another stumble.

• In the 0-1 pool (teams that lost their Round 1 match), Legacy will face off against underdogs Rare Atom, in a match that pits last-chance recovery against upset potential
