RED Canids Bench Entire Roster Following Underwhelming 2026 Results
Brazilian organization RED Canids have officially benched their entire Counter-Strike 2 roster, signaling a complete reset after a period of inconsistent results in early 2026.
The move sees all five players—André “drop” Abreu, Richard “chayJESUS” Seidy, Kaue “kauez” Kaschuk, David “dav1deuS” Tapia Maldonado, and Renan “reNTU” Cardoso—placed on the transfer list alongside coach Gustavo “tge” Motta. The decision effectively ends the current lineup’s tenure after failing to convert potential into trophies.
This roster had shown promise throughout 2025, highlighted by a qualification for the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 Stage 1. However, their run ended in a narrow defeat to FaZe Clan, underscoring both their competitiveness and limitations at the top level.
Heading into 2026, RED Canids attempted to reinforce the squad by adding dav1deuS and later promoting reNTU in April. Despite these changes, results did not significantly improve. The team’s most notable achievement this year was securing a spot at IEM Rio 2026, but they failed to translate that qualification into a deep run or consistent international success.
Domestically, the team also struggled to secure titles, falling short in regional competitions and failing to establish dominance in South America. Their overall form across tournaments reflected inconsistency, with fluctuating performances against both regional and international opponents.
The decision to bench the entire lineup marks one of the most significant roster overhauls in the organization’s recent history. While RED Canids have previously made targeted changes—such as benching players after unsuccessful qualification campaigns—this full reset suggests a broader strategic shift aimed at rebuilding from the ground up.
At the time of the announcement, no replacement roster has been revealed. All players are now open to offers, indicating that the organization is exploring a completely new direction as it looks to regain competitiveness both regionally and internationally.
