Pimp: The Gap Between Team Vitality and the Rest of the CS2 Scene Is Growing
The competitive Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) scene continues to revolve around one dominant roster. According to analyst and former professional player Jacob 'Pimp' Winneche, the gap between Team Vitality and the rest of the field is widening.
Speaking about the ongoing season and recent tournament results, Pimp suggested that Vitality’s level currently stands far above their competitors. In his view, while some teams are showing progress, none have managed to consistently challenge the French organization’s dominance.
“The gap between Vitality and the rest seems to grow every day,” Pimp said while discussing the current state of professional CS2 competition.
His comments come during a period when many of the world’s top teams are battling through ESL Pro League Season 23 — notably without Vitality in the field.
Vitality Dominance in CS2 Continues in 2026
Even without appearing at every event, Vitality remain widely considered the best CS2 team in the world thanks to their recent trophy streak and consistent performances.
The roster entered 2026 on top of global rankings following a dominant run in late 2025. Their success continued early this year with victories at multiple Tier-1 events.
Among their biggest recent achievements:
Victory at IEM Kraków 2026
First place at PGL Cluj‑Napoca 2026
Maintaining the No.1 position in global CS2 rankings
These results have reinforced the perception that Vitality are currently setting the competitive standard in Counter-Strike 2.
ZywOo Continues MVP-Level Performances
A major reason for Vitality’s dominance is superstar AWPer Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut, who remains one of the most consistent players in the history of the game.
Following Vitality’s victory in Kraków, ZywOo reflected on his individual performance:
“I can say it was my best performance that I've ever played in a tournament.”
The event added another MVP medal to his already historic collection, further cementing his reputation as one of the greatest players in Counter-Strike.
Vitality’s Strength Lies in the Whole Roster
Although ZywOo remains the headline star, Vitality’s success is built on a balanced and experienced lineup.
Players like Shahar 'flameZ' Shushan and Robin 'ropz' Kool have played key roles in the team’s recent titles.
After one of Vitality’s playoff victories earlier this year, flameZ highlighted the team’s resilience:
“We showed our A game even though we had a lot of people sick.”
Meanwhile, ropz previously said joining Vitality gave him a similar feeling to when he joined his former championship roster:
“When I joined FaZe I felt we could win everything. Joining Vitality I share the same feeling.”
These comments reflect the confidence inside the squad and the belief that the team can dominate multiple tournaments.
Can Any Team Catch Vitality?
While Vitality currently appear untouchable, several teams are attempting to close the gap. Pimp pointed out that Team Spirit have shown signs of improvement recently.
However, consistency remains the biggest challenge for Vitality’s rivals. Many teams can compete for individual tournament wins, but none have matched Vitality’s sustained dominance across multiple events.
Until another roster manages to replicate that level of consistency, Vitality will remain the team everyone is chasing.
The State of the CS2 Competitive Scene
As tournaments like ESL Pro League continue, the storyline remains clear: the rest of the field is trying to catch Team Vitality.
Pimp’s assessment may sound bold, but recent results suggest it is hard to argue against. With star players in top form, a deep roster, and multiple recent trophies, Vitality currently stand at the center of the CS2 competitive landscape.
For now, the biggest question in professional Counter-Strike 2 is not who will win the next event — but who can finally close the gap to Vitality.
