Rise of the rookies: PARIVISION’s unlikely breakthrough

At the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, PARIVISION achieved what few expected — clinching the final Stage 2 spot after an incredible double-overtime triumph over Legacy. Down 5-11 and again 10-12 on Dust2, PARIVISION mounted a gritty comeback to win the map and send the match to overtime, eventually sealing the victory.

What makes the feat even more impressive: PARIVISION entered the Major with four players making their Major debut — BELCHONOKK, AW, xiELO, and nota. The pressure was visible, especially on maps like Dust2 — but when it mattered most, the rookies held their nerve.

Post-match, PARIVISION’s in-game leader Jame didn’t hide his astonishment: “It’s some sort of miracle happening in front of your eyes.” He emphasized how these players came “from the street,” having once only “moved and shot on FACEIT Premium,” but now proved capable of competing with the best on a Major stage.

Jame’s insight: beyond just a win

Jame admitted that in the moment, he felt no euphoria — he was too focused on the routine, trying not to let anything slip during the interview. Only later would the full weight of the moment likely hit him.

He also praised xiELO’s breakthrough performance. Over PARIVISION’s first five maps in Budapest, xiELO averaged a team-leading 1.29 rating, though he dipped to 0.88 in the decider. Still, Jame insisted it’s been a long time since he’s seen someone “better on the server.” In his words: xiELO is “way ahead of the majority” right now.

On the challenge of nurturing a roster full of rookies for LAN pressure, Jame reflected on his role as IGL: the preparation, the mental conditioning, the confidence-building — but ultimately, when it counts, every player must “help themselves.”

What this means for PARIVISION’s future

This victory is more than just survival — for PARIVISION, it’s a confidence injection and a gateway to more frequent international LAN appearances. Jame and teammate dastan see this as the first step toward a longer-term goal: turning this under-the-radar lineup into a stable contender.

With VRS (Valve Ranking System) points gained, and now having proved they can handle high-stakes pressure, PARIVISION may find doors opening — but the real test lies ahead. As Jame noted, adapting to frequent LANs and maintaining consistency is what will define their trajectory.

Context: PARIVISION’s fresh roster and uphill climb

At the start of the tournament, PARIVISION stood out as the only Major team carrying four complete rookies. The shared expectation was that they might struggle under pressure — and early on, that seemed to be proving true, especially given their shaky rounds on maps like Dust2.

Yet that underdog tag also meant fewer expectations, which perhaps helped them play freer. The victory over a pre-tournament favorite like Legacy — a team many expected to cruise through — now rewrites narratives. The “street fighters,” as Jame called them, now have a fighting shot.
