NiKo Reflects on His Latest MVP Win, Falcons’ Krakow Struggles, and the Road Ahead at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026
Team Falcons rifler Nikola “NiKo” Kovač shared candid thoughts on his recent BLAST Bounty Season 1 MVP award, the evolving dynamics within Falcons, and the team’s form heading into PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 in an interview with HLTV.org.
A Milestone Yet Hard-Fought MVP
NiKo earned the Most Valuable Player award at the BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 1 event in Malta, marking another standout individual performance in his career. This was his tenth HLTV MVP accolade, a milestone that places him among the game’s most decorated players and brings him level with other prolific award winners like donk.
Reflecting on that honour, NiKo admitted he now savours every MVP moment more deeply, partly because such awards have become harder to achieve in a team with multiple superstars: “Every event I play or every MVP I get, I always think nowadays that it might be my last one, so I really wanna enjoy it.”
Star Power Within Falcons
Since moving to Team Falcons in 2025, NiKo has shared the spotlight with standout talents like m0NESY (Ilya Osipov) — a prolific fragger and AWP-centric star — and rising young rifler Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin. NiKo noted that earning MVPs is “way harder” on a roster with such firepower, but also expressed pride that he can still perform at elite level alongside them.
Falcons formally signed kyousuke in mid-2025, bolstering their roster with fresh talent during a significant restructuring.
Recent Team Form and Challenges
The Falcons’ recent tournament journey has been a mixed one. After making the grand final in BLAST Bounty with a stand-in lineup — where NiKo secured his MVP — the team stumbled at IEM Krakow 2026, exiting in the group stage following a loss to MOUZ. NiKo acknowledged these setbacks and highlighted the small in-game situations that have cost them key rounds.
Their inconsistent results illustrate the fine margins in top-tier competition: despite individual excellence, translating performance into trophies remains a work in progress for Falcons.
Looking Ahead: PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026
With PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 underway, NiKo and Falcons are focused on regrouping and learning from their recent experiences. NiKo discussed the team’s approach to map play — particularly the updated Anubis layout — and emphasised communication and refining their strategic execution after inconsistent outings.
Career and Legacy Context
NiKo, a veteran of the Counter-Strike scene since 2015 and widely regarded as one of CS history’s best riflers, has consistently featured among HLTV’s Top 20 players and MVP recipients. His 10 MVPs and numerous high-level performances highlight his longevity in a game defined by rapid talent turnover.
