w0nderful Wins First HLTV MVP Award
One of the biggest storylines from IEM Atlanta was the performance of Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov, who earned the first HLTV MVP medal of his career after dominating throughout the tournament.
The NAVI AWPer delivered elite numbers during the playoffs and played a decisive role in the victories against Vitality and GamerLegion. His consistency finally converted into an MVP award after several deep tournament runs with NAVI over the last year.
After the final, w0nderful said:
“The feeling is very good, because there were a lot of chances for me to get it, but every time I was playing bad in finals or we are losing. This is my first time, and I am super happy.”
He also admitted that waiting for his first MVP had become frustrating:
“A little bit, yes, but I knew one day I would get it.”
NAVI Finally Beat Vitality in the Playoffs
Before lifting the trophy, NAVI had to overcome one of their biggest challenges of the CS2 era: defeating Vitality in a high-pressure playoff match.
NAVI eliminated Vitality 2-1 in the quarter-finals, ending a difficult streak against the French-led international roster. The win was widely viewed as a breakthrough moment for Aleksib’s squad.
Coach Andrey “B1ad3” Gorodenskiy explained how important the victory was for the team’s confidence:
“Beating Vitality in any condition benefits us hugely.”
The win over Vitality immediately increased expectations around NAVI’s chances to win the event, especially after their convincing semi-final victory over BetBoom.
GamerLegion Continue Their Impressive CS2 Rise
Despite the loss, GamerLegion’s run to the IEM Atlanta final was one of the biggest surprises of the tournament. The roster defeated several established teams on their way to the grand final and continued building momentum as one of the most dangerous rising squads in Counter-Strike 2.
Before the final, GamerLegion player Tauson said he specifically wanted to face NAVI for revenge after a previous defeat:
“I would like to play NAVI and get revenge against them.”
However, NAVI’s experience in arena matches proved decisive during the championship series.
NAVI Strengthen Their Position in the CS2 World Rankings
With victories at ESL Pro League Season 23 and IEM Atlanta 2026, NAVI are once again firmly in the conversation for the No. 1 spot in Counter-Strike 2.
The combination of:
Aleksib’s leadership,
B1ad3’s tactical system,
w0nderful’s star-level form,
and improved playoff confidence
has transformed NAVI into one of the most complete teams in CS2 ahead of the second half of the 2026 season.
The team now heads toward upcoming S-Tier tournaments with renewed momentum and realistic championship expectations.
