NAVI Beat Aurora to Reach BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 Semi-Finals

NAVI Beat Aurora to Reach BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 Semi-Finals

Natus Vincere secured a convincing victory over Aurora to advance directly to the semi-finals of BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026, continuing their dominant run against the Turkish squad in recent months. The Group A upper bracket final ended in a clean 2-0 for NAVI, once again highlighting the gap between the two teams in high-stakes matches.

The series was played in a best-of-three format, with Aurora selecting Anubis and NAVI opting for Nuke. Despite Aurora’s confidence coming into the match after strong wins earlier in the tournament, NAVI maintained control throughout both maps and never allowed the series to slip out of their hands.

On Anubis, Aurora’s pick, NAVI demonstrated resilience after a competitive first half. Trailing 5-7 at the break, the international roster mounted a dominant defensive side, conceding just one round after the switch to close the map 13-8.

The second map, Nuke, followed a similar pattern. Aurora again managed to keep things close early on, but NAVI’s structure and mid-round calling proved decisive in the later stages. With a strong CT-side finish, NAVI sealed the map 13-10 and secured the series without the need for a decider.

Individually, NAVI’s players delivered a well-rounded performance. Mihai “iM” Ivan stood out with particularly impactful contributions across both maps, while Drin “makazze” Shaqiri also played a key role in maintaining pressure. Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov, although not reaching the same level he showed during the ESL Pro League Season 23 grand final, still provided consistent AWP presence when needed.

This matchup carried additional narrative weight, as it served as a rematch of the ESL Pro League Season 23 final, where NAVI had already defeated Aurora to claim the title. Historically, NAVI have had the upper hand in this rivalry, winning the vast majority of their recent encounters, including multiple meetings earlier in 2026.

Heading into BLAST Open Rotterdam, both teams had shown strong form. NAVI advanced through the group stage with victories over B8 and Falcons, while Aurora impressed with wins against FaZe and FURIA. However, once again, Aurora struggled to translate that momentum into a win against one of the world’s top teams.

The result sends NAVI directly to the semi-finals of the tournament, giving them additional preparation time and a favorable position in the playoff bracket. Aurora, on the other hand, drop to the quarter-finals, where they will need to fight through the lower path if they hope to reach the later stages of the event.

Overall, the series reinforced NAVI’s status as one of the strongest contenders at BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026. Their structured approach, depth across the roster, and ability to close out tight games continue to set them apart, while Aurora remain a dangerous but inconsistent opponent—capable of beating top teams, yet still unable to overcome NAVI when it matters most.
