MOUZ Qualify for PGL Astana 2026 Playoffs After Narrow Win Over Aurora
MOUZ secured a spot in the PGL Astana 2026 playoffs after defeating Aurora Gaming in a tense 2-0 series during the Swiss stage. The European squad survived a major scare on both Dust2 and Nuke, eventually closing out the match 13-11 and 19-15 to advance to the single-elimination bracket at BARYS Arena.
The victory marks another important milestone for MOUZ’s rebuilt CS2 roster, which entered Astana with several major changes, including Dorian “xertioN” Berman taking over in-game leadership responsibilities.
MOUZ Edge Past Aurora in High-Pressure CS2 Series
Although the final score suggests a straightforward win, Aurora pushed MOUZ to the limit throughout the series. Dust2 remained competitive until the closing rounds, while Nuke required overtime before MOUZ finally secured the playoff-clinching victory.
xertioN once again delivered a standout performance for MOUZ, finishing the series with 47 kills, 97.2 ADR, and a 1.38 HLTV rating. Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás also played a crucial role with 43 kills and several key late-round clutches.
According to HLTV.org, MOUZ’s defensive structure and mid-round calling proved decisive during overtime, allowing the team to stabilize after Aurora repeatedly threatened an upset.
xertioN Continues Strong Form as MOUZ IGL
One of the biggest storylines surrounding MOUZ at PGL Astana 2026 has been xertioN’s transition into the in-game leader role. Prior to the event, the Israeli rifler admitted he initially feared becoming “a burden” for the team while adapting to leadership duties.
“I was a bit worried I would be this IGL that is just a burden, but so far I’m feeling pretty comfortable,” xertioN told HLTV in a pre-tournament interview.
The move has paid off so far. Through the Swiss stage, xertioN emerged as MOUZ’s highest-rated player and one of the strongest CT-side performers at the tournament. HLTV statistics showed him maintaining an elite 1.64 CT-side rating across 11 maps heading into playoffs.
jL Provides Immediate Impact for New-Look MOUZ
Another major addition to MOUZ’s lineup has been Justinas “jL” Lekavicius, who joined the team on a temporary basis before Astana. The Lithuanian player described the tournament as an opportunity for both sides to evaluate long-term compatibility.
“It’s a good chance for MOUZ to try me out,” jL said ahead of the event. “If they don’t like it, they’re not gonna go for me, and vice versa.”
jL also praised the squad’s communication system and highlighted xertioN’s fast-paced calling style as one of the reasons the roster adapted quickly despite limited preparation time.
The addition of jL has helped stabilize MOUZ after roster uncertainty earlier in the season, giving the team more firepower and flexibility heading into the playoffs.
Aurora Eliminated Despite Competitive Performance
For Aurora, the defeat ends a promising lower-bracket recovery run at PGL Astana 2026. After losing their opening match to HEROIC, Aurora bounced back with victories over The Huns and PARIVISION to reach the qualification match against MOUZ.
Aurora captain Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli recently acknowledged that the roster is still searching for greater consistency and a more defined identity.
“I’ve been in this scene long enough to know that thinking too much about the future only hurts your level now,” MAJ3R said while addressing roster speculation surrounding the team.
Despite elimination, Aurora’s aggressive T-side approach and strong individual performances on Nuke demonstrated the squad’s potential against top-tier CS2 opposition.
MOUZ Join Growing PGL Astana 2026 Playoff Field
MOUZ now advance to the PGL Astana 2026 playoffs alongside teams including 9z Team, who earlier became one of the first squads to qualify from the Swiss stage.
The result is especially encouraging for MOUZ considering the team is still adjusting to major structural changes, including a new in-game leader and recent roster additions. With xertioN thriving individually and the team showing resilience under pressure, MOUZ enter the playoffs as one of the most dangerous dark horses remaining in the tournament.
