MIBR sweep Lynn Vision to secure Stage 2 berth at IEM Cologne Major 2026

MIBR are through to Stage 2 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 after a convincing 2-0 victory over Lynn Vision in Swiss Round 4 of Stage 1. The Brazilian side entered the match with a 2-1 record, knowing that a win would lock in progression, and they delivered their most dominant performance of the opening stage when it mattered most. The series ended 13-5 on Anubis and 13-2 on Inferno, with Nuke left unplayed after MIBR closed the match in two maps.
The result marked a major turnaround for MIBR after an uneven start in Cologne. They had opened Stage 1 with a surprise loss to THUNDER dOWNUNDER, a match in which HLTV noted that MIBR looked disjointed and Felipe “insani” Yuji had an unusually quiet game. MIBR recovered with wins over TYLOO and Liquid before facing Lynn Vision for a direct spot in Stage 2.
Against Lynn Vision, however, MIBR finally looked like the pre-stage favorite many expected them to be. The veto produced Anubis as MIBR’s pick and Inferno as Lynn Vision’s choice, while Nuke remained as the decider. Lynn Vision started Anubis with some early success, including three opening rounds on their T side, but that proved to be their only real foothold in the series. Once MIBR adapted to the Chinese team’s slower defaults, the map quickly turned one-sided.
Insani was the clear standout. HLTV credited him with a “monstrous” performance, and the numbers backed that up: across the two maps, he posted 41 kills, only 16 deaths, 140.7 ADR, 90.9% KAST and a 2.21 Rating 3.0. His impact was especially important on Anubis, where MIBR recovered from the early deficit and ran away with a 13-5 win.
Inferno was even more brutal for Lynn Vision. MIBR controlled the map from the beginning, built a 10-2 halftime lead, and did not allow Lynn Vision a single round after the side switch. Klimentii “kl1m” Krivosheev also produced one of the key moments of the series, holding the B site alone with a four-kill round that crushed Lynn Vision’s attempt to pressure MIBR’s economy. He finished the match with 33 kills, nine deaths and a 1.44 rating.
The defeat pushed Lynn Vision into the 2-2 bracket, leaving them with one final chance to reach Stage 2. Dust2.in described the loss as a drop into “do-or-die territory,” while HLTV later confirmed that Lynn Vision would face fellow Chinese side TYLOO in the final round of Stage 1. That matchup carried extra weight for Chinese Counter-Strike, as one of the two teams would keep its Major run alive while the other would exit the tournament.
For MIBR, the win secured a 3-1 Stage 1 finish and a place among the teams advancing to the next phase in Cologne. Stage 1 ran from June 2-5 in Cologne, Germany, with 16 teams fighting for spots in Stage 2. The format used Swiss play, with best-of-one opening rounds and best-of-three matches for progression and elimination games.
MIBR’s next challenge is already set: they are scheduled to open Stage 2 against Legacy on June 6. After a shaky start to the Major, the Brazilian roster now moves forward with momentum, and the win over Lynn Vision was the clearest sign yet that they can compete beyond the opening stage.
