Falcons Reach PGL Astana 2026 Playoffs After Thriller Against The MongolZ

Team Falcons secured a dramatic comeback victory over The MongolZ at PGL Astana 2026, with star players Ilya 'm0NESY' Osipov and Maksim 'kyousuke' Lukin delivering standout performances to send Falcons into the playoffs.

After dropping Inferno and trailing 4-10 on Mirage, Falcons mounted one of the tournament’s biggest comebacks, eventually winning the deciding map 16-12 in overtime. The victory pushed Falcons to a 3-1 Swiss Stage record and secured their place in the PGL Astana playoffs.

According to HLTV.org, m0NESY and kyousuke combined for 38 kills during the final stretch of Mirage, completely turning the series around in Falcons’ favor.

The win also marked the first playoff appearance for legendary in-game leader Finn 'karrigan' Andersen since joining Falcons.

NiKo Praises m0NESY and kyousuke

Falcons superstar Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač praised the team’s young stars after the match.

“They are insane on this map, they’re getting a lot of multi-kills. It’s just about putting them in a comfort zone,” NiKo said in a post-match interview with HLTV.org.

NiKo also admitted that Falcons are still adapting to karrigan’s leadership system, which requires more initiative and communication from every player.

“There aren’t many IGLs we would’ve taken — basically it was only karrigan or no one else,” NiKo explained in another interview with HLTV.org.

karrigan Era Begins for Falcons

The PGL Astana tournament marks the beginning of a new era for Falcons after karrigan officially joined the roster. Before the event, the Danish captain described the move as a fresh challenge and said he still believes he can win trophies at the highest level.

In an interview with HLTV.org, karrigan said joining Falcons gave him motivation he had not felt in a long time.

Falcons coach Danny 'zonic' Sørensen also confirmed that the team is building around karrigan’s leadership style.

“My main goal has really been to give him the keys to the ship,” zonic told HLTV.org.
