Legacy’s CAC 2026 Title Run Explained: BreeL Says Falcons’ “Second-Place Curse” Helped Brazilians Win

Brazilian squad Legacy shocked the Counter-Strike scene by defeating Team Falcons in the grand final of CS Asia Championships 2026, but not everyone is convinced the team can replicate that success at the upcoming Major.

Russian analyst and content creator Anton “BreeL” Andrianov believes Legacy’s title run was impressive — yet heavily influenced by Falcons’ ongoing struggles in grand finals.

According to BreeL, Legacy’s victory in China was tied to what many fans now call Falcons’ “second-place curse,” referencing the European superteam’s repeated failures to close out championship matches despite entering tournaments as favorites.

Legacy defeated Falcons 3-1 in the CAC 2026 final after dropping the opening map, Nuke, 11-13. The Brazilian roster then stormed back with victories on Ancient, Mirage, and Dust2 to secure back-to-back CS Asia Championships trophies.

latto Dominated the Final

The biggest difference-maker in the series was Bruno “latto” Rebelatto, who delivered one of the best performances of his career.

HLTV highlighted the Brazilian star’s incredible impact throughout the tournament, including a massive 1.52 rating in the grand final and several clutch rounds that completely shifted momentum in Legacy’s favor.

Following the victory, latto admitted that beating Falcons made the title even more meaningful:

“This one has a little extra something to it,” the Legacy rifler said, “because in the final we faced Falcons, a team I respect a lot.”

The 23-year-old also praised his team’s mental resilience after narrowly losing Nuke:

“The game was in our hands, we let it slip away,” latto explained. “We got our heads back on straight and went into the remaining maps with the same mindset.”

Falcons Continue Their Painful Finals Streak

Despite entering the event as favorites, Falcons once again failed to convert a grand final into a trophy.

The roster featuring Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov has now developed a reputation for collapsing in high-pressure championship matches. Community discussions during the final were already filled with jokes about another possible Falcons choke before the series even ended.

HLTV’s post-match analysis criticized Falcons’ offensive structure on Mirage and Dust2, pointing out that their T sides looked disjointed while Legacy consistently punished mistakes with aggressive mid-round calls and explosive individual plays from latto and Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer.

NiKo struggled heavily in the series, finishing with a 0.85 rating, while only Maksim “kyousuke” Lukin maintained star-level consistency for Falcons across all four maps.

Legacy’s Confidence Is Growing Before the Major

Legacy’s CAC triumph did not come out of nowhere. The Brazilian team has quietly built momentum over recent months with deeper playoff runs and stronger performances against elite opposition.

Before winning CAC 2026, Legacy defeated The MongolZ in a dramatic semifinal series where latto produced a match-winning ace clutch that he later called “top three” in his career.

The Brazilian star also explained that repeated playoff appearances are helping the roster mature ahead of the Major:

“We’re gaining experience playing in front of the fans and playing in playoffs,” latto said. “I think it’s been really beneficial for us.”

HLTV additionally noted that latto has evolved into a genuine superstar under coach Alan “adrrr” Riveros, especially after posting elite numbers throughout the entire CAC event.

Are Legacy Real Major Contenders?

Even after the title victory, skepticism around Legacy remains.

BreeL still considers Team Vitality the leading favorite for the upcoming Major, while also pointing to the strong recent form of Team Spirit. At the same time, Legacy’s victory over Falcons proved that the Brazilian side can now compete with the world’s elite teams on LAN.

Whether CAC 2026 was the start of a true championship era for Legacy — or simply another chapter in Falcons’ painful finals history — will likely be answered at the Major next month.
