Legacy to play ESL Pro League Season 24 without arT as bobz steps in

Legacy will be forced into a temporary lineup change for ESL Pro League Season 24 after Andrei “arT” Piovezan was diagnosed with meningitis, ruling the Brazilian in-game leader out of the $1 million tournament in Katowice.

The organization said arT is receiving medical care and is expected to remain sidelined for at least ten days. Pedro “bobz” Rocha, currently working as an analyst for Legacy, will step into the playing lineup for the duration of the event.

The timing is particularly difficult for Legacy. The Brazilian-majority lineup enters Pro League during its strongest stretch of the season, having finished third at the Esports World Cup before winning FISSURE Playground 3 earlier in September.

arT sidelined at a crucial point in Legacy's season

Legacy announced the change on September 27, less than a week before ESL Pro League Season 24 begins.

According to the team's statement, arT is undergoing treatment and is expected to remain out of competition for “at least 10 days.” Legacy added that it would continue to provide updates on his recovery.

The situation is therefore a temporary absence rather than a permanent roster move. arT remains part of Legacy's active lineup, which otherwise consists of Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer, Bruno “latto” Rebelatto, Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira and Santino “try” Rigal under coach Alan “adrrr” Riveros.

Who is bobz?

The unusual element of Legacy's emergency solution is that bobz has recently been working behind the scenes rather than competing as an active professional player.

The Brazilian last appeared for a team in 2024 with MIBR Academy. He subsequently moved into staff roles, working as an assistant coach for Fluxo and Yawara before becoming an analyst for Legacy.

That makes the substitution fundamentally different from bringing in an active player from another roster. Legacy retain someone already familiar with the team's preparation and internal system, but bobz arrives without the recent official match practice of the other four players.

His presence also does not provide a direct replacement for what Legacy lose with arT.

arT is not simply the team's fifth player. He is its in-game leader, meaning his absence removes one of the central voices responsible for directing Legacy's approach inside the server. How the calling responsibilities will be redistributed at Pro League has not been publicly detailed.

That uncertainty is likely to be the most important competitive consequence of the change.

Legacy lose their IGL just as the lineup hits its best form

arT joined Legacy from Fluxo in February, replacing lux as the organization reshaped its lineup. The current five-man combination was completed during the summer, when n1ssim returned to active duty and Argentine AWPer try joined from Passion UA.

The results since then have been encouraging.

Legacy finished third at the Esports World Cup in August, defeating FURIA 2-1 in the third-place match after falling to eventual champions Spirit in the semi-finals. try finished the tournament with a 1.26 rating across 14 maps, while latto was also named among the event's EVPs.

Their trajectory continued upward at FISSURE Playground 3.

Legacy went through the Suzhou event with victories over magic, Alliance, FURIA, MIBR and G2. Their playoff run culminated in a convincing 3-0 sweep of G2 in the grand final, with Legacy winning Ancient 13-9, Mirage 13-10 and Dust2 13-4.

latto was named the tournament MVP after finishing the event with a 1.31 rating. His biggest performance came in the final, where he posted a 1.67 rating against G2.

The result gave Legacy another international trophy and reinforced the progress made by the arT-led lineup.

Why arT's absence matters tactically

Replacing an IGL at short notice presents a different problem from replacing a conventional rifler.

Legacy have spent recent months developing around arT's leadership while integrating try into the AWPer position and restoring n1ssim to the active lineup. The five-man unit has now played 35 maps together, recording 24 wins and 11 losses while collecting two LAN top-three finishes.

Removing the caller from that structure potentially affects far more than individual firepower.

Mid-round decision-making, T-side pacing, reactions to opposing setups and communication protocols can all be disrupted when the player normally responsible for directing them is unavailable.

There is also the question of how aggressively Legacy will be able to maintain the identity they developed under arT.

His teams have historically been associated with proactive play and a willingness to create information, but Legacy have not publicly revealed how their responsibilities will be reorganized with bobz in the server. It would therefore be premature to assume which player will take over full calling duties.

The advantage of using bobz is familiarity. As Legacy's analyst, he should already understand the team's map preparation, tendencies and strategic framework. The disadvantage is obvious: understanding a system outside the server is not the same as executing it against elite opposition while simultaneously handling individual responsibilities.

A difficult test awaits in Katowice

ESL Pro League Season 24 will run from October 3–11 in Katowice with 16 teams competing for a $1 million prize pool.

The tournament represents a return to an entirely LAN-based Pro League format. A 16-team Swiss stage will determine the eight playoff participants, with the final three days taking place inside the Spodek Arena. The playoffs are single elimination, with best-of-three series leading into a best-of-five grand final.

Legacy were awarded the No. 5 seed by the participating teams, behind Spirit, Vitality, Falcons and MOUZ and ahead of FURIA, Aurora and G2.

That seeding reflects how dramatically the team's competitive position has improved.

HLTV currently lists Legacy at No. 6 in its world ranking, while the organization sits at No. 3 in the Valve ranking.

Instead of arriving in Katowice merely hoping to challenge established contenders, Legacy were set to enter Pro League with legitimate momentum after consecutive high-level LAN results.

The arT situation changes that equation.

Legacy still retain much of the firepower responsible for their recent success. latto enters the event immediately after an MVP campaign, try has quickly established himself as a major component of the lineup, and dumau and n1ssim remain part of a core that has accumulated extensive experience together.

What they will not have is the complete structure that produced those results.

For a team coming off its biggest title of 2026, ESL Pro League Season 24 will consequently become as much a test of adaptation as a continuation of recent form.
