Hally Calls for Anubis Changes in CS2 as Map Returns to Competitive Pool

Team Spirit coach Sergey “hally” Shavaev believes Anubis needs balance updates before fully settling back into the CS2 competitive map pool. After Valve confirmed Anubis would replace Train in Premier Season 4, the discussion around the map’s balance reignited among professional players, analysts, and fans.

Anubis Returns to CS2: Why It Matters

Valve’s decision to rotate Train out and bring Anubis back marks another major shift in the CS2 competitive ecosystem. Tournament organizers such as ESL and BLAST have already announced they will follow the updated map pool in upcoming events, making Anubis a mandatory preparation target for tier-1 teams.

However, not everyone is convinced the map is ready.

Hally: “Anubis Is One of the Most T-Sided Maps”

Speaking to Okko Cyber, hally described Anubis as structurally unbalanced, especially at a high competitive level.

According to the Team Spirit coach, the main issues are:

A problematic A site

Excessively long rotations

Too much freedom for attackers due to wide map geometry

Hally suggested that Anubis should be narrowed, visually refined, and adjusted to improve defensive rotations, emphasizing that the map currently favors Terrorists too heavily.

Pro Players React to Anubis Replacing Train

Valve’s decision triggered immediate reactions across the pro scene:

Perfecto expressed frustration over Train’s removal.

b1t (NAVI) said Anubis is acceptable but argued that Overpass would have been a better map to remove.

donk (Team Spirit) stated that Anubis is stronger than Train overall, though removing a recently reintroduced map felt strange.

Jame noted relief that Vertigo didn’t return, once again pointing to Cache as a preferred alternative.

woxic welcomed Anubis but criticized the decision to remove Train instead of Mirage.

chopper highlighted how teams spent months adapting to Train only for it to be removed.

Mauisnake suggested that recent CT economy buffs in CS2 could partially offset Anubis’ T-sided nature.

m0NESY previously pointed out that Anubis can be difficult for CT AWPers due to heavy utility pressure and early map control by Ts.

The recurring theme across reactions is clear: Anubis is playable, but controversial.

Valve’s Response Fuels Uncertainty

When asked whether Anubis would receive changes before its return, Valve responded ambiguously, stating that the answer was “either yes or no.” The comment sparked criticism on social media, with fans demanding clearer communication and renewed calls for Cache to be added instead.

As of now, Valve has not confirmed any specific Anubis rework.
